To Many Better Restaurants in New York

My husband and I travelled to New York City for New Year's Eve. We selected this restaurant for the festive occassion. My husband asked the restaurant ahead of time if the menu was a la carte. We were told yes. What they failed to mention was that yes you did order off the menu but there was a fixed price. The food was a big disappointment. It was not good, it was cold and greasy. The only thing that was weaker than the food was the service. It was terrible. The overall quality was so bad that the $85. per person charge was not worth it. It was not money well spent... Go elsewhere

    A truly subpar experience

Made reservations for 10 of my friends weeks ahead of time for their NYE $85 a head dinner party. I put a lot of time and energy into selecting a place for us to celebrate. I have never had such poor service. We had to ask for everything! My husband had to get up and go across the restaurant to find our waiter to ask for water, order drinks, order appetizers, order the main course, ask for forks, order dessert, ask for spoons! The worst part was the bill. I hate the mess paying a bill for a large party can be. So, I was very organized, calculated how much everyone owed, adding tax, adding 20% tip, I only had 3 credit cards for 10 people, not bad. And the rest in cash. I made a list with the 3 names and amounts to put on the 3 cards. They returned the bill with all the cash and had evenly charged the whole bill on the 3 cards, $242 per card. When I asked what they did, they were very confused, I reminded them I wrote everything down and verbally explained what to charge on what card. They were all flustered. Very unprofessional, treated their customers who were spending a lot of money in their establishment very poorly and on New Years Eve.

    Best Chicken "martini"

Older typical UES crowd but if you're in the area and debating between the 3 other Italian restaurants on the block, go for Lumi. Order the Caesar salad that they prep at your table and the pollo "martini" If it's possible it will blow your mind- awesome!

    Best Anniversary Dinner!

My boyfriend and I had gone to Lumi for our first date which lasted three hours. So not only was the company wonderful so was the restaurant. When my boyfriend called to make a reservation he had asked for a nice intimate table and mentioned that it was our one year anniversary. They gave us not only the best table in the restaurant but we had the whole floor to ourselves which was fantastic! What made it even more special was they didn't let us leave without a complimentary piece of cake and champagne. We will never forget the evening and we thank everyone for a great celebration!! With that being said, we highly recommend it and will definitely be back!

    Lovely Brunch!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience as did our guests. The food is scrumptious, the dining environment is elegant, and the service prompt (but not excellent). This UES restaurant is a fabulous choice for brunch and dinner.

    This is over

This restaurant is resting on reviews long past and glories derived from a movie. This is a once bright star now carrying a 2.0 grade average. If UES locals are treated with indifference, one shudders to think how out of towners would be received. Just sort of sad and pathetic. Filled with wailing children, explorers from the Russian Federation and lukewarm food.. Sort of sad and oddly comical since it is obvious this place, the food and even the service are merely a parody of what it once was. Spare yourself. Too many great places to eat in Manhattan to waste your time here. The diner across the street, at least, appreciates the business and they don't "slyly" overcharge for "extras," and menu swaps on a prix fixe. If I wanted to burn money, I would just stay home and do it in my own kitchen.
