Lui's Thai Food

We had pre-show dinner here because there were no other good options close to the theater. My entrée was a special ($16): fried duck breast in red curry with avocadoes, pineapple, and tomatoes. The piece of duck was fresh, nicely fried and large. The curry was mild, but the added ingredients were really not necessary. The duck was probably better off by itself. The rice that came with the duck was skimpy. My companion had vegetable jungle curry ($13). The portion was very stingy as was the rice. It contained fresh ingredients but the dish lacked any oomph, taste or flavor. The chicken and corn soup ($6) was tom gar with a few kernels of corn added. It had maybe 3 pieces of chicken in a small bowl. We could forgive the sizing and tastes, but the service was also lacking. There were 2 wait staff for a subsequently packed house of about 6 tables, and a few waiting outside this very small, well decorated hole in the wall. We had to ask for water and asked for chopsticks. When we arrived, we were the only ones there. The unforgivable omission was not telling us why our entrees took over half an hour. Others seated after us were served before us which may of course have been due to their orders. But we arrived to an empty house? Deliveries were flying out. Why did the kitchen take so long with our meal? No explanation, no apologies, no thank you or a nod as we left. No returning customer here.
