Good place and food, subpar service

My boyfriend and I have been going to this place for 5 years now. We always go on our anniversary. Had our first date here and we sometimes go in the fall. Only on our first date did we get good service. After that its been worse. Even when there are only 2 tables being served the service is not good. The day that it was almost empty for lunch, the waitress forgot my entree. after about 20 minutes I asked for it and she said she didn't hear my order? There was no noise, the music was low and only my boyfriend was going to eat?! The last time we went out for our anniversay it was on a Saturday. It took us 15 minutes to get seated even though we had reservations, 20 minutes for the waitress to come around, 20 more for the appetizers to come, and another 20 for our meal and finally another 17 minutes to get the check. Thank God we had exact change. The couple across from us got so tired of waiting for the rest of their order that they left the cash on the tables and went out the front. Too bad because the food is delicious and rustic. I always get the asparagus and procuitto lasagna and am never dissapointed. the Lucatinis are nice and strong and the anti pasta platter is delicious with all sorts of assorted cheese and salami and ham.

yeah, the service is sooo bad! why??

around feburary, my boyfriend and i ate here in the dining room. the food was pretty good -- shared appetizers, pizza and some chicken parm, and the atmosphere was cozy. both/window seat, warm from the pizza ovens. flash forward to may... came in with bf and another friend. stood, ignored at the "host podium" for 10 minutes before we walked out. oh, there were folks working there... the waitress was serving some guests and walked right buy us 3-4 times (not even a look, eye contact, nothing). the hostess was chatting with the bar tendress, but the bad hip hop music was so loud it was impossible to even get these folks' attention. just acknowledge that we are standing there, for goddsakes. don't you want our money? we stood, ignored, listening to bad music for 10 minutes and left. i'm disappointed, because the food was ok and garden is nice, but jeez, talk about forcing me not to go in there ever again. i don't get it.

    Service

Went here a few nights ago with some girlfriends for the first and last time. There seemed to be only two girls running the place, and though the restaurant and bar were both empty, they seemed more intent on chatting with each other than serving our table. The food was not terrible - the eggplant parmesan was fresh and flavorful, and the pizza was crisp, yet oddly bland. And, while the waitress forgot to put in one of our entrees, she still managed to charge us for it - twice.

    What went wrong here?

Had been here a few times before and had really enjoyed the experience - food was simple but delicious, service was charming and the garden out the back was really cute. However, dinner here last night was a disaster. We'd made a reservation for a garden table. When we arrived the hostess couldn't find the reservation and went into a lengthy explanation about a new staff member who had been messing up reservations all week. There was no record of the reservation or the cell phone number I'd given, and the garden wasn't open for dinner. While I know mistakes can happen, this was really disappointing. We were seated in the dining room (not a particularly nice setting) and experienced the worst service I've ever had. For the first time in my life, I didn't tip, such was the incompetence. Where to start...left waiting ages for drinks. Then ordered a selection of plates which we asked to have at the same time. The first two plates arrive, landed unceremoniously on the table by the less than plesant waitress. 20 mins later I managed to get someone's attention to ask for fresh pepper and plates to eat from. Plates duly arrived, and apparently there were no pepper mills in the building. Another 20 mins later, the rest of the food arrived. Buffalo mozz salad was rubbish - tasteless and unseasoned cheese and tomato. Chickpea crostini was bland. Pizza was terrible - the base was rubbery and tasted as though the dough had been frozen. A platter of meats, cheeses and vegetables was ok - the parma ham and salamis were good, but the bread was stale and inexplicably there were pickles and tinned peppers on the plate. I would have complained about the poor quality of the food but there wasn't a waitperson in sight and as the evening wore on it became clear that nobody was going to ask if we were happy or how our food was.

    Definately worth a try!

Came here late on a friday night for dinner and there were plenty of tables. The food was delicious and the portions were quite large. We had the spinach salad which was super tasty, very light and refreshing. Then the 4 of us each got an individual sized dish and split them all, it was plenty for us to eat and allowed us to sample a variety of things. I highly recommend the pizza. Wine was reasonably priced too! The service definately left a little somethign to be desired but the food & prices were worth it. There is a really nice garden in the back too!
