This place is great
This place doesn't pretend to be a fancy, multi waitered restaurant where the service is impeccable. It is an informal, funky, fun but delicious place to eat. The staff is friendly and well mannered, if perhaps a little slow but the food is excellent. If you want something else then go somewhere else!

Why all the bad reviews?
I order from here once a week at least. i cant speak for the service in the place, but the people on the phone are always super nice. everytime. and the food is delicious.

Oh the service...
The food is good and priced decently. But it's not really worth it when the waiters are more interested in talking to each other than taking your order.

Wtf
Ive been working in the downtown ny restaurant industry for a long time and not to sound like an ass but I think someone should teach to all staff (not the kitchen staff) how the restaurant business works in nyc. It hurts me that i have to leave a tip for shitty service, every time there is a different server and they all act the same. I want to understand what the criteria is to be hired for this place is. Theres not one server that is friendly and they actually manage to make us uncomfortable during my meal because I'm bothering them or something. On top of that they don't even know how to work in a restaurant (forgetting simple etiquette like bringing silverware) so really, if they dont know how to serve then what am i tipping them for? Their service? Hells no its even worse. They should rehire all new staff because as it stands, the service in chinatown from a 50 year old asian woman who doesnt speak english is way better and fun than a wannabe "hipster"..from nolita?!

*shakes head
The last 5 times i've eaten there I leave angry. I feel the waitresses scouring over me, feel like its a burden to ask for simple things like a glass of water, and generally feel like the atmosphere is cold and unfriendly. The waitresses don't give a shit about the customers and always look like they hate their life. Why don't you quit then if you are so miserable? Hipster or not, bottom line is that the consistent horrible service is enough to make me not want to go there anymore, even if the food is good.

Poor Service
Tried to order from LD last night...always an issue. They took my order and said 30 to 40 minutes...i called 1 hour later asking what was the status and they said the kitchen was busy and they lost the ticket...then they said the kitchen was closed and there was nothing they could do...there are too many good restaurants to deal with this.

always great
I wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer below - get over the 'hipster' insecurity nonsense & go eat somewhere above Houston if it really bothers you that much... A great restaurant & neighbourhood staple for years. So relieved when it reopened...
