Best pad thai
Pad thai isn't a fancy dish but must be done right: with the right spice and amount of "eggy-ness". This is the best so far I've had in the city bc it's authentic.

loved lotus in vegas- not the same in nyc
nyc location is much fancier, smaller menu, more expensive and not as good as lotus in vegas. the food was very good in nyc but not enough to justify the high prices and small portions.

Best Thai in NY?
I always find myself confused when I come across "fancy" Asian restaurants...it just doesn't seem to make sense to me. I was skeptical to say the least to try Lotus of Siam even though some have praised it as being one of the best Thai restaurants in the nation. I'm not completely sold, but I can't fault the food - the dishes I had were amazing. Despite that, I'll probably still turn to my favorite Thai joints down the street.

Thai for a special night!
After trying the amazing Vegas one, we were looking forward to trying the NY version... and we were not disappointed!! the portions are modest but definately enough for one, and we had a great time despite our large group (8)! Try the stuffed chicken legs (mmm) and crispy rice (a must!) and anything with drunken noodles (amazing) or duck (try the crispy one in spicy basil!) in it and you cant go wrong! i also reccomend the short ribs in penang. prices definately reflect the 5th ave address, but its totally worth it for the trendy atmosphere and quality food! enjoy!!

Fantastic food
The food is different from---but on a level with--Sripriphai's. Truly delicious, innovative, satisfying: I can't say enough. The wines by the glass were well chosen to go with this cuisine (three rieslings, among other whites) and the service was alert by not hovering. My only criticism is the decor and lighting. They should hire a lighting expert stat. Otherwise, a truly remarkable experience.

Terrible service, expensive dishes, tiny portions
Let's begin with the fact that when I tried to reserve a table I was told to walk in instead, as the wait on that day will not be long. We walked in, waited for 30 minutes and still they did not accommodate us in the dining room. We ended up sitting in the bar dining area which was fine only the service was so bad we thought we were in the wrong place. Our waiter did not say hello to us or asked us anything at any point. When asked for recommendations he said " We have appetizers, salads, noodles, fish" while pointing at the categories on the menu, and then left. We were then hit with a wine list which had extremely expensive wines (marked up ridiculously higher than any other restaurant). Then the appetizers arrived. The soup was barely warm, the papaya salad was tiny and not so tasty (and we love papaya salad!) and the fish balls we just barely O.K. Then the entrees arrived: again at tiny portions. My salmon was pretty good but was small, again, and came with no sides. My husband's sauce for his prawns entree was so spicy he nearly suffocated (and we did not get any warning, or order a dish that was mentioned as spicy). We did receive a communal rice basket for all three of our entrees with just a little bit of rice, which was not at all enough (barely enough for one person) for us three. It was also a pretty disgusting presentation of rice. Meanwhile, at no point was a server around to ask us if we needed anything, or to see if we had anything to say. When we needed help we just had to wait, and then explain to random other employees that would come to our table, but no server. I have to say the desserts we really good, which made me happy but for a bill of over $200 for three people, not including tip, the service we got was a disgrace, the portions way too small and the food well, not worth it at all!!

Great new spot!
What a welcome addition to the neighborhood - delicious food, lively atmosphere and attentive service. We tried a number of appetizers, including the crispy rice salad which was terrific as were the chicken wings. We also had a couple of noodle dishes that were very good - pad thai and pad see ew. We sat at the bar and had a martini, glass of wine and a beer. We were pleasantly surprised when the bill came to under $100 so I'd have to disagree with other reviewers who say it is over-priced. As a lover of thai food, I am pleased to have such a good option in the Village.
