I've sampled a number of the Polish restaurants in Greenpoint over the years, and Lomzynianka is the best. No it's better than that, because it's a crazy little place with tinsel hanging from the ceiling and a deer's head on the wall. Get beer across the street ($1.50 for a Lomzya) because it's byob. And try the white borscht. No beets. Just cream, kielbasa, potatos, hard boiled egg, and probably a ton of butter. Great on a cold night!

On the days when the cold wind whips up paper in the streets, go here. The decorations are mildly appalling... tangled streamers from the ceiling and the elk is garlanded with plastic flowers, but the food is very real and very authentic and very good value. Put on a protective layer of adipose tissue with the help of goulash, potato pancakes and sour cream, and wash it all down with beer, then go into the cold wind and feel invincible. the service is friendly too.

One of the best places to eat polish cuisine in Greenpoint. I recommend: Zurek (white borstch), polish platter, and enormous chicken coutlet. Great food for reasonable prices.
