    Agrees with No Bueno

Lolita's did start strong. We were happy to have a new restaurant in our area. We ordered from them a couple times, once for pick up, once for delivery and all was well. Today we placed an order at 5:20. We called to check in at 6:30 and they had no idea what we were talking about then said the order was out already. We called back at 7 to check in again and again they had no idea what we were talking about... aye aye aye...Order cancelled.

    No bueno

Lolita's started out strong, but their service has consistently gotten worse and their food less appetizing. I've ordered from this restaurant a few times... First time, the food was okay, the delivery was fast. The second time, they forgot half my order, the food they remembered to deliver and pack was cold, the meat dry, and the portions lousy (Skip the combination platter and order your items separately.) The three or four times after that, they were either late with the food, got the orders wrong, decided they'd stop deliveries for the night (around 8pm on a weeknight) OR, would simply take my order, get my address and decide I wasn't ordering enough food to warrant them delivering. This isn't the reason they gave me on the phone, but it's exactly what the manager said while they had me on hold. (Do a better job of covering the receiver on your phone, amigo.) There isn't a lot of great Mexican in Harlem, so if you're hard pressed and craving a torta, walk east to Spanish Harlem or go downtown, but don't give Lolita's your business.

    yum

I have been eating enchiladas suizas/verdes all over NY and also in Mexico. The meal I had today was among the best I've ever tasted. The food is superb. The Mexican rice and refried beans were hands down the best I've ever had. I was very impressed and happy with my meal choices. The only thing I would change about the food is the drowning of the enchiladas in verde sauce because the spice then becomes a bit overpowering; but after I scraped some of the sauce off to the side, the various subtle flavors sprung to life. Also the chicken, while flavorful, was not as tender as I would have hoped because the breast was not first pounded thin. But like I said at first, the meal was absolutely wonderful and flavorful. The only sour note was sadly the service. My waitress didn't smile once, didn't ask me how my meal was while I was eating or after I paid the bill. And when I handed her a tip with my bill she didn't say thank you. She wasn't nasty and I understand that it was the transition time at the restaurant between lunch and dinner. During this transition they use the time to set out the small vases of flowers and clean up a bit. I was just disappointed that she couldn't crack a smile. I will definitely be going back, but solely for the wonderful food. To its credit, the restaurant is clean and open and has a casual but festive decor.

    Good Mexican!

It's been hard to find a good delivery place in this neighborhood, and though my roommates have been raving about this place during the past year, I had yet to try it until last night. Normally I order Blockheads, which is ok, but I feel like it's nothing special. I ordered Lolita's last night and was so impressed, I ordered again tonight! The delivery came in 20 minutes, the food is fresh, and it's a good value. I haven't found tacos I like this much since California...seeing my tacos with their little lime slices and the homemade hot sauce on the side was a very welcome surprise.

    YUM!

I have not been to the restaurant but the take out was fast, hot and delicious. I had the plain tostadas, refried beans and mexican rice and the steamed vegetable plate. Would order two orders of tostadas next time because they are 5" tortillas and really yummy. Too much veggies to eat in one meal for me at least, but hot and fresh, though i doubt steamed, seemed boiled. A definite find in my opinion!
