Love the atmosphere
Had a great time with a bunch of my girls here. I wasn't sure about the food bc it looks a little divey and visually, the menu looked like it was an arts and crafts project by a 3rd grader, but it was the complete opposite. Food was so good(had the fresh Atlantic Salmon), great happy hour, great service, great energy from the bartenders and a great location. I will definitely be back with my girlies :)

Yummy~
Recently I had the pleasure to visit Live Bait. I try to visit once before but place seemed to be way over packed. So I tried visiting on Monday. Live Bait is very casual and comfy place to go with a friend or group of friends. It has bar in the beginning and dining tables in the back. Of course guys love the surrounding TV in each corner. For me I just love the food. I ordered one of their specialty Prawn Fritters as an appetizer. Crispy on the outside and very moist and marinated to my liking on the inside. I would definitely get it again. As a meal I had the BBQ chicken and rib combo platter. You had a choice of two (fixins) sides so I got the Yam Candied and sauteed spinach. I wasn't crazy for the Yam or bit salty spinach but the rib and chicken was so good!! BBQ sauce was so delicious and they had enough amount of sauce, as other BBQ place seemed to limit the amount. I would definitely recommend and also will go back to this restaurant. Looking forward to other things on the menu. =)

What happened?
This used to be a great place. Haven't visited in 6 months and todays visit was disappointing. Did they get a new cook? New owners? Something important has changed...The cornbread minimuffins recipe changed for the worse. The shrimp bisque had no body and was waaay to salty, there were only 2 other couples in the place and the food took forever to come. When it got to us the chicken and rice was cold from sitting and had to be sent back...It was once a great little place. What happened?

Delish mac n cheese!
Its packed in the front because of the bar area, but sometimes really empty in the seatin areas. It is really loud! I ordered a side of mac n cheese to go.It was soo delicious. It taste just the way I make it! Cheesy, perfect amount of creaminess! With the cheese and bread crumbs on top! Yum! It is so much better than S'Mac. I recommend!

Best Happy Hour Deals in Midtown!!
This is our new favorite place to go after work. It's always lively and the happy hour prices CANNOT be beat. They have a whole list of menu items for $5. For example: half dozen oysters (good oysters, not discount....:) The only drawbacks: Happy Hour ends at 6:30 so if you work late, you won't get the deals. The bar is usually pretty crowded, so it can sometimes be hard to fit large parties. But, they have additional seating in the restaurant portion and we have never had a problem sitting there for just drinks. **Oh, and there always seems to be a plethora of good looking guys there, which never hurts.

Not recommended
Wow. Don't go to this place if you want anything listed on the menu. Or if you want your order taken within 45mins of being seated. Or if you don't want to suffer at the hands of the slowest, most vacuous waitress ever to serve in NYC. After an eon sitting down waiting for our order to be taken, it turned out nothing we ordered from the menu was in stock. Thanks for telling us beforehand! We ordered oysters, only to be told they too weren't in stock. We ordered hushpuppies instead... but wait... what's that? Oh! A huge plate of oysters being delivered to another table!! We raised this point with our waitress; "oh, yeah, I dunno... I'm feeling kind of confused today". Normally a server acknowledging a mistake like that would try and make up for it somehow, perhaps by not charging for an item or giving a free dessert. Not this time though. The lack of any effort to appease us is the reason I felt compelled to write this review. The food was just OK. The crab cakes weren't crispy enough, the catfish tasted of dirty pond water more than it usually does, and the hushpuppies... well, they weren't oysters. But the mediocre food wouldn't have mattered so much if the service was up to standard. Judging by the other reviews, this place is quite popular, but I will never go back here.

One of my Favorites!
I love Live Bait! It has the old divey, "fisherman's hang-out" feel to it, and serves up some seriously delicious food. I've never had a bad meal here and many times I've been blown away. Has a Louisiana feel to it with things like catfish and spicy gumbo dishes and the like on the menu. Sit down at a table, have some cold beers, maybe some oysters and clams and fill up on some really good seafood. Highly Recommended!
