awesome authentic food
this restaurant is awesome. the food is prepared by someone that actually grew up in cuba in the 1950's and totally understands what cuban food should be like.

Pretty Good Food
I ordered the filet, and at only $19, it was a deal. I was very much impressed by the taste, and I'd go back to order it again. The ceviche, although not your typical ceviche, was very very tasty as well. My girlfriend got the ropa vieja, which was pretty good as well. The service was terribly slow, but it was a great little place with good food.

just ok
Went here recently with my boyfriend who is puertorican. I ordered the arroz con pollo and he ordered the ropa vieja. The arroz con pollo was missing some acidity and tasted like something you could make at home or just order from down the block. It didn't wow me. My boyfriend said the ropa vieja was NOT tasteful and he has been served much better food elsewhere. I.E. in Jersey or uptown. We ordered a pitcher of sangria and that was actually very good. The service was not friendly and overall we will never go back here. I was excited to try this place but for the prices of food and service its not worth it. Don't waste your time.

Ropa Vieja
Best ropa vieja in the city. The other stuff on the menu is good, but you have to try to ropa. As far as atmosphere goes, it's a little crowded but what place isn't in the West Village?

Awesome!
I have been going to this place since it opened. Reasonably priced. Great value for your money. My husband is cuban and he says the food is just like moms home cooking. Best flan in the city, filet mignon, ropa vieja, chorizos, tamales, you name it it's great. Lidia the owner wonderful lady just like grandma, fast, courteous service. You want home cooking this is it! Guaranteed to make your day!

Poor Food, Poor Service- Too Bad...
I live in the neighborhood and have wanted to try Little Havana for quite a while. I ate there tonight and was disappointed not only with the food, but most especially the service. I ordered the chicken and shrimp with rice, which tasted very fishy and not fresh. After dinner we were presented with the bill (which was quite reasonable). After paying the bill and gratuity, the service then added more money to our bill (re-adjusting the total), then asked us why we did not pay the full amount. I would not reccomend this restaurant, but if you do go, please make sure you pay attention to the original bill.

Pleasant
Last night my husband and I came for first time. Pleasant waiter greeted us right away, as you already know from previous post that this is very small place but well cared. He had Prime Filet Mignon ($19), juicy, tasty and well executed beef, creamy and sweet texture covered Green Plantains, and rice and deep flavor taste black beans gave comfort… I sampled his dish. I ordered Jumbo Shrimp Ceviche ($11.50) as main dish and as side, spicy Chorizos with Onions ($6) suggested by the waiter and complimented pleasingly. Tangy lemon shrimps(3) and salad with full and delightful flavored chorizo were just divine. To end our dinner, we ordered Homemade Flan ($4.50). Custard was mouth fully firm over with sweet cane sugar and liquor. I enjoyed my dinner ($63 w/ San Pellegrino & tip).
