The food is bland and the portions are small compared to it's king size competition. They say their cheesecake is world famous but in my opinion that's only because it's a busy New York corner.

I am a New Yorker who was in need of a quick meal in the Times Square area right before a Broadway show. Cleverly, there was no menu posted outside the restaurant, but I figured "how bad can it be?" We were seated and given menus and was utterly floored by the prices - sandwiches in the $20 range, and breakfast items (3 eggs) for more than $15. So my partner and I ordered a bowl of soup each @ $7.50 each, and we split a knish @ $6.50. At best, I would describe the food as pedestrian. It is not by any means a fancy restaurant - it doesn't present itself as such (it has a diner atmosphere, and I had duct tape holding together a rip in my booth). One would be better served to go to Olive Garden or Applebee's down the block (as horrified as I am by making that recommendation!). With a couple of sodas, our bill was over $30 for a can of Campbell's soup, a potato, and some soda. Service was polite but excruciatingly slow. A family of tourists left the restaurant completely horrified. This is my first review on MenuPages after years of using the website; the experience was just so ridiculous that I had to take any opportunity to make other potential customers steer clear of the place!

We had a couple of hamburgers with fries, 2 cokes (sorry Pepsi) and a cheesecake. Everything was decent. They advertise the best cheesecake and being able to order online and have one shipped. Not sure I would go that far, but the cheesecake was light (for a cheesecake) and not too sweet. I still won't recommend you eat here. While eveything was just fine - no issues - the bill was $62 for that (2 cheesburgers with fries, 2 cokes and 1 cheesecake). I don't mind spending for food, but in this case I don't think it was warranted. So Lindy's doesn't get my vote, but it is only based on a value factor. If you have more money than sense, then it would be just fine. The food was ok and the service was good.
