After reading all the reviews from everyone, I just wanted to say to you cheap people out there. Hello, your in NYC!!! Stop complaining about the prices. I on the other hand have always had a great meal and experience eating at Lindy's. I have visited NYC every Labor Day weekend for the past 8 years. Every morning I make a point of going to Lindy's for breakfast. I always see the same waiters & waitresses every year. That tells you something about the place. So stop whining people.

I ordered a tuna sandwich and an ice tea. The bill was a little over $20. Way overpriced. When I was there I counted about 5 diners that sat down, read the menu, and walked out.

I've actually been here a few times, every time on the request of out-of-towners who want to eat at Lindy's. Every time I eat beforehand and simply order coffee and play host. The bill-shock is always great. Last one had a "britney spears" (chicken salad triple decker), a "lucille ball" (turkey and swiss), 2 cokes and a slice a cheesecake. (I paid for my coffee separately so as not to get pulled into a stupid tip...it's over $3 as it is). Total after tax and tip was over $70. For food you can get at any diner for quite literally less than half the cost. And most of the diners have better service (and often better food). Face it, you go there, you are paying an unreal markup just to say you ate at Lindy's. But hey, it's more money into our city coffers in the end, so if tourists want to blow hard-earned cash on food that no native in their right mind would pay for at those rates, more power to 'em.

I had a bad morning a few weekends ago and thought I'd treat myself to a big breakfast so I popped into Lindy's - I had never been. I didn't look at the menu until I was seated (breakfasts aren't that complicated) and had ordered my coffee. The cheapest breakfast was $15. MOST were $20+ For EGGS. No joke. I didn't even check the price of my coffee until the bill came - a cup (which, sure is refillable, but still) was $3.95. FOR REGULAR COFFEE which wasn't even *good*. For $20+ I assumed (ha) it would at least be really good. The eggs were overcooked, the bacon was tiny and the toast was barely toasted. It was a crime. I felt like I was robbed. I will never go back.

Lindy's will go down as one of the worst dining experiances we have ever had. Not only was is outragously overpriced and simply subpar food, the service was just unpleasant. The waiter literally did not speak to us, he just walked up and stared at us. Funny that he found his tounge when giving us our check. We left Lindy's as fast as possible and wouldn't go back if someone PAYED us to!

This place has a lot of nerve. Their cheesecake was subpar and they charge $10 for a small slice! Hopefully they will see these reviews and improve!

We tried this place the last morning of our stay. Big mistake! We ordered 4 breakfasts (at an average $20 a plate). Don't mind paying for a good, hearty breakfast, but we all left feeling as though we could have eaten more. No coffee refills were offered and the cups of tea ordered were put down the the table so hard, the tea spilled out. Two of the four breakfasts we ordered were cold. One of our party asked for a mushroom omelette and was told there were no mushrooms available! Maybe there was a shortage in New York that day! Food, when it eventually arrived was okay, but nothing spectacular as stated on the menu. On the plus side, the waffles were good, although they were lukewarm by the time they arrived. To top it all, our waitress added an "essential" $20 tip to our bill, even circling it off and adding it to our $99 bill, for "excellent" service. Would not recommend this place.
