    Cafeteria Food at Gourmet Prices

Imagine paying $35 for a meal at your High School cafeteria. That's how I felt after leaving this place. What a tourist trap! Somehow their location must allow them to get away with it. The only good part of the meal is the cheesecake although it's still overpriced. I saw at least three groups of people take one look at the menu and leave. I'm sorry I didn't follow their lead.

    Yes Expensive, BUT...

Like 99% of the reviews here: yes it is expensive. BUT... they have a great steak and eggs breakfast. One of the very few places that serve steak and eggs and even w/ the slightly overpriced bill you get it is worth it.

    Not recommended

Stopped in for a bite and it was the most disappointing meal I ever had! The pickle was the only good part! I wish I would have read some of these reviews before I went! Prices are outrageous for what you get.

    Run away!

This was JUST terrible. 2 diet pepsi, a salad, corned beef sandwich (includes "side of coleslaw") Ruben sandwich and mashed potato. Your total? $70.05! First, 2oz of coleslaw does not a side make. $5+ for INSTANT mashed potato is a crime! The service was terrible and they had the audacity to recommend an 18%-20% tip. Outrageous! I kid you not, a woman left in an ambulance while we were there. I'm confident it was AFTER she saw the bill! Junior's was less money, more personable and the food was WAY better.

    Overpriced

Food is good, prices are not. Nice atmosphere but I saw people shaking the heads when reading the menu prices. If you like dessert, splurge on the cheesecake which is excellent but visit the ATM first.

    For tourists only

I stumbled into this diner, thinking i'd save myself a long walk down to one of my favorites downtown. Worst mistake i've made in a while. The food was incredible, incredibly expensive. Completely defeats the purpose of going to a diner. I got some eggs and coffee. My girlfriend got a sandwich and a tea. Total cost -- 55 dollars. It would have been cheaper to just take a taxi down to Donut in Park Slope, or to Daniella's in Williamsburg, or ANYWHERE else. To the gentleman who mentioned below - "but you're in new york" ... I know I am in New York, I've lived here for 10 years! I just happen to stay downtown where things are reasonable. Shame on me for not walking out when I looked at the prices.
