We came for the cheesecake. Big mistake. This is not the famous cheesecake of the past. It's a cheap imitation. Food is overpriced, and just avg. Typical tourist trap that is living off a reputation that died many years ago.

On Sunday June 29, 2014 3 friends and I went to NYC for a show and a day on the town. As we strolled by Lindy's we decided to stop and have a treat to hold us over till dinner. We were seated outside as we requested. Our waiter was sweet and attentive. We laughed and giggled and enjoyed our Egg Cream. We fantasized of the Sex and The City ladies, paid our ever so reasonable tab and went about our way. While Lindy's prices are a tad bit high you are buying ambiance and it history. For me the last time I was there was March 29, 1967 on my honeymoon! I could not afford to eat there everyday but on a treat it was delightful.

Six of us went there today and got ripped off. $18.95 for a roast beef sandwich and thats just one example. Like others have posted, we should have left after seeing the menu. We are definitely going back, be seated, look at the menu and then leave. This is the only satisfaction I can get. PEOPLE: please, please, please don't go there. If you want to spend that much money in a diner type setting, then go elsewhere. There are alot of good places in the area. How these people sleep at night is beyond me. They have so conscience.

tourist trap - way over priced ( even for NYC ) and average food at best. Not worth it. Many better alternatives nearby.

I visited this diner about three times during a stay in New York . I have to say the breakfast was the best I had during my stay, and the service from the different wait on staff was great.

Imagine paying $35 for a meal at your High School cafeteria. That's how I felt after leaving this place. What a tourist trap! Somehow their location must allow them to get away with it. The only good part of the meal is the cheesecake although it's still overpriced. I saw at least three groups of people take one look at the menu and leave. I'm sorry I didn't follow their lead.
