Stop stumping
The food is pretty good for American style Chinese and the best in downtown Brooklyn (which isn't saying much). Just don't expect to swoon at your first bite and get on your knees and start worshipping as the reviews below would have you do. Better yet, go across the bridge to Chinatown, or to Brooklyn Chinatown (yes there is one) or to Flushing for much better Chinese food at lots of places.

I like it
Pretty good as far as fast chinese food goes. Tasty, well presented. If you do delivery, make sure you state your phone number and address very clearly because they sometimes get careless. Overall thumbs up.

Consistent and predictable
Lichee just got an overhaul. It looks clean and inviting. The menu is the same. Pretty good food, not innovative or unique, but predictable and well presented. I opt for the bamboo steamed veggies for dietary reasons, but the other more traditional dishes are very good. The moo shu pork is very crispy, but a tad salty for my likes. The cook will make anything to order (i.e. low oil, low salt, no mushrooms, etc.) I have been a Lichee customer for 20 years and will not go to any other Brooklyn chinese restaurant. No reason to.

Consistenly good
I come here at least once a month for great takeout. There are many chinese food restaurants in NYC, but most of them are not good, and Lychee Nut is an exceptional place, especially for the value. I especially like their shredded garlic chicken, pork buns, and shrimp shumai. Dining in is low key, and the atmosphere is not very ornamental- it's really a small quiet place, good for an average Friday night date. The service is very good, but not outstanding (no conversation or recommendations- that sort of thing). I've had bad chinese food (walk in only, greasy flappy chicken laid on a poorly made bed of rice) and great chinese food and I'd say that the quality at Lychee Nut is much closer to the best than the worst (let's say 8 of 10) If you want consistently good chinese food I recommend Lychee Nut!

Good Reliable Chinese Food
I've been going to Lichee for years and they have great service and their food is always very good. As a person who is an avid lover of Chinese food, Lichee Nut is one of the 3 Chinese restaurants in downtown Brooklyn that I always go to or order delivery from. Very good Chinese food!!

Uninspiring chinese
If you are desperate for chinese food, this is not a bad place to go. It's definitely affordable. However, the food is uninspiring. I don't think I will be going back any time soon.
