You have to know what to order

We went here one time and didn't think much of this place. But now that we know what to order, we love this place. You have to order the Juicy Buns and Scallion Pancake. This is like a little Joe's Shanghai.

    no A/C in hot summer?

We could not believe that they were not willing to turn on the A/C in hot summer!

    Perfect Everything!

I LOVE this place! Everything was fabulous. Ordered two appetizers (scallion pancakes and dumplings) and braised whole fish (though I wanted to order everything on the HUGE food/drink menu). No complaints whatsoever- everything came out piping hot, timed perfectly. Rice comes out piping hot and fresh, w meal (HUGE pet peeve!) Not to mention the amazing view and fresh sweet oranges! I also love that the huge menu specifies what is specifically "traditional", for those who love "traditional" vs. "American"-style food, since peoples' tastes are vastly different. The servers describe the food very precisely in case they think you may/may not like the dish for whatever reason (if you express preferences), and actually care that you'll like the dish they prepare for you. Another huge plus was that the wait staff wanted to make sure we were happy w our table! Even after we were seated! I think the prices are completely reasonable for the circumstance. Perfect everything, served well w fresh food in a gorgeous setting. My parents (both hypercritical professional chefs/restaurant owners in their day) would love this restaurant!

    fastest financial district chinese food

The place is freakin' FAST with the delivery. They don't skimp, either. I order often and sometimes it takes TWLEVE MINUTES. Food is great, their Shanghai-inspired dishes are awesome and from my experience pretty authentic. Best chinese food in the financial district that ive found so far!

Great chinese food & beautiful location!

Liberty View is one of my favorite restaurants around Battery park city. The food is delicious especially the soup dumplings, various chicken dishes, and the peking duck is one of the best! The best part has to be sitting outside with the view of the hudson river when its warm outside. Great place, will be back there soon!

    Worth a try

I have been seeking a haven of authentic Chinese food for some time, and Liberty View comes relatively close. Can never beat restaurants in Toronto or San Francisco - but its close and offers a nice selection of food from different parts of China. Definitely worth a try, particularly in NYC. The location is actually nice, given that is set away from Chinatown.

Soda is the best part of the meal....

I used to order take out and eat in at this place in 2005. Then I changed jobs, but now I am back in the neighborhood. In '05, the food was great. Really nice. But i just got a take out from there and the soda is the best part of the meal. The spring rolll was cold, chicken and veg. were hot but there was a spillage of grease from the chicken and broccoli container, I poured it into the sink, it was not the brown sauce that is part of the dish, it is pure grease. I assume they could not serve this a customer dining in, as they would not get payment for a plate of grease. Never again. I am enjoying my soda, and now I am going to throw my lunch in the garbage!!
