We moved to the area recently and were really excited to try this place, South America has some great meat so we went to try out their food. The first time we both got steaks and had had some pretty poor quality meat in NY so were looking forward to a place that prides itself on their meat, we were disappointed. However I always believe in second chances so we went back again and had a meat platter type of thing that you can share with another person. It had sausage, steak, chicken and ribs I think. The steak was rubbery tough, the chicken was tasty (but it is in most places..) and the sausage was poor quality. While I'd love to love this place as it's so close and has a great selection of meats, it really isn't worth the price .. Sorry !

Let me first start out with the appetizers. The baked empanadas are very good. It all stops there, from Management to the Waitresses, all terrible. They would not give my son 1 piece of chicken. He had to order to the full TWO pieces of grilled chicken. That I don't understand, it's not 1 piece that we are cutting in 2. Serve the 1 and charge half or almost half. All 3 of our dishes were absolutely tasteless. When we asked for salt and chimichurri sauce to put on it, the waitress actually rolled her eyes at us. The owner is old and grumpy. She is definitely in the wrong businesss, she is not pleasant at all. I actually witnessed her yelling at another customer. Isn't the customer always right? I don't understand how she could treat people this way. PLEASE....do yourself a favor a spend your hard earned money elsewhere. There are a ton of great restaurants on the UES, so please choose one of those over this one. At this rate, they will be gone by year end, lets hope so.

Best Argentinian food in the city. Buttery-delicious crust on the empanadas, and an outrageously huge parillada for two. The tomato chimichurri sauce is fantastic, and our waitress, Carolina, was a gem. Very recommended.

I went there for dinner and had to leave because it was so hot. It was 88 degrees outside and although they claimed to have the a/c on all the numerous doors were wide open. The maitre d was sweating. I imagined sweat from the waiters and cooks dripping into my food and walked out. I will return in the winter since the food is not bad.

I live in the neighborhood and have wanted to try this place for years because of the great outdoor atmosphere. The atmosphere definitely didn't disappoint. We sat outdoors and drank great tasting Sangria. However when our food came we were not as impressed. Nothing was terrible, but everything we ordered was mediocre. Too make matters worst this mediocre food was very expensive (too expensive i.m.o.). Lastly some of the staff had a poor attitude toward us. In fact we almost left immediately because the hostess kept promising us table and then giving them away to other people! When we tried to talk to her she told us to leave. Luckily (or unluckily in the end) one of the waiters us a nice table. There are too many other great places to eat in this neighborhood.

I live in upper east side for 4 years, and i love Libertador. The food is good, the people work there is very friendly, they always make sure you feel good and everything is on time, always busy is the good thing.They have full bar-- best sangria, mojitos and caipirinias. I always bring my friends there because i m sure they will love to and we always come back!

Ordered steak which came out very dry. The portions were disappointingly tiny and overpriced. Even more, the staff were very rude and non-accommodating.
