For steak, totally not worth your time...

To me, steak is steak. That is to say first, it's not (and not expected to be) cheap and second, the experience of ordering it should be one worthy of the indulgence. Otherwise, why not just order chicken? I don't know how the chicken is here, but they won't get a second chance with me to try it or anything else. Why? Because they butchered (pun intended) my first and only experience with them on a $24.50 ribeye. First, they served it to my girlfriend and gave me her NY strip. And because our sides (mine bland mashed potatos, hers a weedy looking salad which she had to choose over the mashed - she couldn't have both!) were different, they needed to take the meals away to fix this. And I needed to tell them they got it wrong! Although fairly large in size, these steaks tasted like they were right from the freezer and when I saw the chef cooking them (we were the only people in the place) over at the grilling station, he looked like he couldn't press them hard enough into the grill with that press thing they use sometimes for burgers in a diner. I just knew then it was going to be subpar. I didn't know that I'd find almost one entire edge of it having to be spit out because it was unedible grisle - tendon and unchewable fat. And for bread: take a loaf of Wonder, make it a 1/4 of the size of that, twice as thick and be sure it tastes like it's two days old. That's what they served, Four slices of that with a chick pea paste to spread on it. No oil or butter. My girl tried it and said it tasted ice cold. Very poor. At the end, the waiter did the place a huge favor by not asking how it was, because I would have certainly told them exactly what I thought.

    subpar service

We went to Libertador Argentina restaurant and was such a bad night. 1st; that was not a real chimichurri sauce i can say that because i went to so manny argentinean restaurant and my girlfriend is argentinean so she tells me what is the real deal. 2nd; the worse waiter i had in my life, and i live here for 10 years and i am also a waiter. 3nr; when someone is eating the 2nd course you never ask if they want coffee or dessert because that is wrong and disrespectfull. if you want to go home earlier than 11pm just quit you job because you not doing good acting this way. Making costumer feel rushed. i hope you learne a lesson. not mention that was the first time i don't give 20% tips. congratulation buddy

    Neighbourhood Favourite

This is easily my favourite restaurant in my neighbourhood. The atmosphere is great, the waiters are great, and the food tastes good and at really reasonable prices (for NY). I've never tried their basil mashed potatoes, but all my friends who have rave about them. The non-red meat menu is a bit limited, but if you go to an Argentinian restaurant you're going for the steak, right? Definitely heading back there soon.

    Great authentic Argentine restaurant

I've eaten in this restaurant twice, both times with my Argentine friend Cecilia who confirmed that the food was very authenic. We both loved it. The meat is excellent!

    food and service

we had brunch here today and i have to say that this is one of the worst places I have ever been too!! we came for brunch and my son had steak and eggs...the steak was hard as a rock!! just like horse meat maybe? my husband and I had the parilla mixed grill for two...the worst mixed grill i ever had!! the two sausages namely the blood sausage was yuck !! service was atrocious too considering there were only two other guests besides us.. i usually give fair reviews but this place just ruined my sunday and even my 8 year old son could not eat!

Fun, tasty, and better than most places nearby

This is a welcome addition to a neighborhood filled with mediocre bars and burger joints. True, Cafe D'Alsace is across the street, but this place is more relaxing and fun and the food isn't as heavy. The best part was the drinks -- a menu of delicious variations on summer drinks. There's a giant jar of white sangria marinating on the bar counter and they have lots of mojito-like concotions. Really fun. Two of us had empanadas, and just a small order of two was very filling and tasty. We also split a large salad and a skirt steak and still had to take some of the steak home. Our waiter was from Brazil and the soundtrack was all South American. I wonder whether it gets noisy as the place fills up but during our early dinner the sound level was fine. Would definitely go back. The neighborhood needs more of this sort of place.

A reason to leave lower Manahattan.

To my friends that rarely venture above of 14th Street, I say, bite it! (a delicious empanada, that is...) I enjoyed this restaurant very much. The food and mood were really nice. Worth every step north.
