I came to lexpress on a decently busy night, at about 3 in the morning. I came in with two girls that were a bit uncomfortable due to their poor English skills. Lucky for me, the manager overheard them speaking Russian and helped them order, while helping me have a better time. The service was awesome. The food was good, but they need to add a little more drink friendly food, and get rid of some French fluff.

I went to L'Express for my birthday dinner with about 12 people. I've made reservations ahead and the staff was very accommodating to our large group. Our food was fantastic and prompty delivered. This is definitely a great dinner place and good value for your money.

Just got back from meeting a colleague there for lunch. Was greeted by a very nice hostess and the place had a nice buzz to it - decorated well and generally very clean and pleasant. The wait staff was fast and crisp. Unfortunately the ceasar salad I ordered was terribly small - maybe 4 oz of chopped romaine and 2.5 oz of grilled chick......and nothing else. Not robust or satisfying in the least I left there very hungry and wound up buying rice cakes and peanuts at a Duane Reade on my way back to the office. Nice atmosphere but the salad was weaker than weak.

Wow is all I could say. Walking around late at night, looking for a place to eat, a bartender recommended that we check out L'Express. Being told that there are scarce options for late night food, we thought "whatever," lets get some food...but boy were we in for a treat. We came in on a crowded Tuesday. We were greeted by a manager that seemed to have come out of a 4 start hotel, and made me trip with laughter before I got to my table. When seated, he explained some of their wines and cocktails, to which we took rather....well....we had a few. The waiter was pleasant and a food was FANTASTIC. The Escargot, French Toast, and Burgers are to die for. I don't remember the last time I had burgers taste this good, regardless of price. We came in for lunch the next day, but the charm kind of wore away. Still great food, but it was something about the latenight dining and the younger crowd that really made the place. I definitely recommend this place....even more so, when the sun goes down.

A couple of friends and I enjoyed some wine and appetizers at a table right next to the windows. We got a nice breeze so it felt like we were outside without sitting on the sidewalk. The service was excellent and the specials, delicious. Creme brulee with rhubarb was amazing!

Half the price of overpriced "French" hangouts like Pastis service is twice as good, and quality is superior. They have Lyonnaise specialities hard to find in other brasseries in the city at the night the atmosphere is bustling and lively, and the entrees are huge and savory. Don't come here if you want to stay downtown and pretend that eating at Balthazar after two hours wait makes you an elite diner who "knows" French culture. Do come here if you want Lyonnaise-inspired dishes in a social environment with acceptable service for prices that won't set you back a week's worth of rent. Great place for dates better place for large groups best of all after 8pm.

Its been a while, I'm glad I came back. Last night I was craving something decadent, L'express had just the thing. Where else can you get streak tare tare and a cheeseplate at mid night. It was really a treat. Not to mention the friendly and accomodating staff. I look forward to more late nights with deliciously rich French food.
