We got lucky with the service, only 1 drink at the bar before our table was ready, and we didn't have to wait TOO long at any one time for our waitress to serve us. We had the grilled calamari salad, which wasn't what I expected, but very tasty (even though I don't like onions). They could have been a bit more generous with the actual calmari. Other than that - the basics - steak au poivre, which was very, very tasty, and filet w/bernaise - also very good, but I was partial to the first. Skipped dessert but had some port. Overall, I had a great time, liked the crowds, liked the food, and liked the prices.

My husband was really looking forward to dining at Les Halles so we were thrilled when we were able to get a last minute reservation for four on a Saturday night. When we arrived for our 9:30pm seating, we were told it would only be a few minutes and they would come find us at the bar. The bar was packed with people but we found a central spot where we could be easily located. Over the next hour, each of us checked in with the four hostesses who repeatedly told us, "Just a few more minutes." Then to my amazement, I watched as a family of four walked in and was seated immediately! When I approached the hostesses, I was told they weren't able to locate us so they gave the table to those people instead. After venting our frustrations, we were finally seated at 10:30pm and given a free bottle of wine. While our waiter promised to improve our experience, he proved to be as useless as the hostesses. Empty plates, glasses and the empty bottle of wine remained on the table far longer than necessary and requests for water went ignored. While the food was good, the service ruined our evening and we will never return. Perhaps the restaurant should consider hiring one competent person to manage reservations as the job proved too big for the four young ladies there last night.

Been to Les Halles on several occasions. I ask myself what keeps bringing me back here? Yes, I'm a big Anthony Bourdain fan, but it's not like he's cooking the food. The service is just not good. Servers seem like they just don't want to be there. Our waitress was hanging out by the bar for quite a while instead of checking on us. However, the food is decent and the brunch is great. It's not completely overpriced. I go because it's convenient. The mussels are supposed to be outrageous however they were out of them the last time I went.

Six of us ate together and could barely hear each other over the loud music. Our server was not good. He was exceptionally rude and never checked back with us. Was awfully quick to make sure we tipped him enough though. The food was great. Would say a bite at the bar may be worth your money, but don't go there for a nice, relaxing meal.

I went to Les Halles last night with a friend and the service was poor. I don't mind if a waiter doesn't write down my order, but I expect him to remember what I requested. I never received the appetizer I ordered and the vegetables I requested instead of fries materialized after we already finished our meal. I ordered a steak which was palatable, but for the price they charged I was expecting much more. The grilled vegetables looked like they dumped a ladel full of oil on them. I would not recommend this place to anybody.
The sirloin and short ribs we had were great and reasonably priced. The drinks were a bit high. The service, however, left everything to be desired. Note to owner: This is a service industry. Serve me! The waiter had the busboy bring the desert menu and then never returned. Had to get my check from the waiter on the next station. Would not go back. Too many restaurants out there that want my business.

Upon enterning the dimly lit restaurant at 8PM, there were a few people at the bar, and the tables were full of patrons. Tables of 2 and groups of friends. The wines by the glass are a good selection and the waiters were attentive. We skipped the appetizers this time, but I had the salmon which was nice in a wine reduction with sauteed onions in it. My only question was why the vegetable of choice was leek on the plate. My friend had the skirt steak special which came with mashed potato and tomato. I would say the food is good, although portions are small and overpriced.
