So much better than the one downtown

I am a huge fan of Les Halles. The first time I had ever tried it was at this Park Avenue location, and I would like to think I am biased for appreciating it more, but absolutely not. The food was amazing for the price as well as the atmosphere. I always go back and recommend the escargot(exceptional), blood sausage (just one - half portion), and the steak tar tar. They know just how to make everything melt in your mouth before, during, and most definitely after. I have yet to have a poor meal at Les Halles, but from the Downtown(which is the original- and supposed to be better) to the Park Avenue location, the ambiance and aura does not compare. I felt like I was in an old cruise ship at the Downtown location, and at this Park Avenue location I could fully enjoy each. The downtown location needs to be renovated, but the food is just as delicious. Come on... duck tape on there booths? Now that is just tacky.

    will go back in deed

4 of us were there this past Sunday (Aug 30) the waitress was very nice and informative. But there was a photo shoot going to take place and we asked to change our table. Our new waiter seemed bothered by this new group sitting at one of his table, but since we had already ordered, we did not have to deal too much with him until we asked for the desert menu and the check. The food was very good; we had a steak sandwich, a salmon dinner, a chicken salad, and a steak and frites. The deserts were great! I will go back. We gave the waiter 20% tip anyway since we all decided we were going back.

    should have gone elsewhere

This restaurant is absolutely not worth the price or your time. All our food was undercooked, cold when it arrived at the table, the vegetables still had stems on them, and all appetizers and entrees not only lacked flavor but what flavor there was, did not coincide with the meat itself. The first dish we ate was the grilled calamari. It tasted watered down and was served completely cold and paired with overwhelming red onions. The french onion soup was at best okay, and was definitely spiced too heavily. The skirt steak with "bleu cheese" was not only served cold and completely undercooked, but served with bleu cheese dressing, not actual fresh bleu cheese. The duck was undercooked, and though was supposedly served with pomagranite sauce, it tasted like cranberries. The only thing that was somewhat enjoyable was the fries, but even those needed to be seasoned. We should have gone to a diner - we would have enjoyed ourselves more.

    Tasty!

We were seated on a window table by the bar, started with huge Martinis, I had grilled calamari with shaved endives and my husband had escargots, we both had juicy steaks, frites and salad, I had sorbets and DH had crème brulée. Everything was very tasty, nothing to complain. Our waiter Tim was friendly and knew the dishes well.

    disappointing

After being pumped to go here, being a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain, my friend and I were disappointed! She got the duck. It was no good and she didnt even eat it all. The "truffled potatoes" it came with were tiny and there were so few I couldnt believe it was categorized as a side dish. It was more like a garnish. I had the steat frites. The steak had good flavor but it was tough and the fries were nothing special. The best part of the meal was the bread they bring when you sit down!

    Well Worth It

After the crowds and overpriced foods in Times Square, Les Halles was just what my fiancee and I needed. Great service, great vibe and very good food

    won't return

i had not been here in over a year but used to be a regular customer. i dined here last week and could not believe it was the same restaurant. Disappointing atmosphere on a Thursday night, the food -- pate, frisee lardon -- was not good. I could not eat it and left it on my plate after one bite. The service was poor, seemed overwhelmed. It is really sad that this once NYC institution is such a horrible place. Will never return.
