getting worse
started out as a neighborhood favorite then quickly plummeted to bottom of the line in quality, freshness and taste. The chef must have one sauce then adds spice for the heat and gobs of sugar. And what is the flavor of thinly shredded chicken? Or was that shredded cardboard? Definitely to be avoided, try Sammy's or Chinatown instead.

poor food of late
This used to be a great place. I usually do takeout. But the last two times I ordered out, it almost felt like the food came from another planet! Something's different. The chef has likely changed. Will not be ordering again from here.

One of the best
We picked this place on internet randomly. The place was filled with people looked as though they were regulars. We ventured out to order two dishes marked with two hot peppers: Mapo Tofu and Crispy Shrimp; and two non-spicy: Chicken Soup. They are just amazing. I like the decor of this place too. Its Asian elements are elegantly presented, which is rare in a usual Chinese restaurant.

Disappointed
Came by for dinner. When you enter the small doorway the first thing you see is a huge photo of the chef taking up half the entrance. Usually I would avoid such a restaurant, kind of strange and egotistical of the chef. Who does that? Regardless my fiance is from China, we ordered off the New Sichuan menu as many reviews suggested. We have been to China, Macao and Hong Kong. Spicy, hot food we are used to. This food is way too hot to really enjoy. There is no subtleness in the heat and spice.....its just excessive heat. We only enjoyed the MaPo Tufu and even that was way too oily. Most of the dishes have too much sauce and oil. The service was scattered and blind. Never received our extra rice, water etc....all in a daze waitstaff and this was a Wednesday! So check it out, but not what I expected.

papaya salad
I am quite suprise when I came home and opened my salad and see that my so called "papaya salad with grilled chiken" is consist of only shreded papaya and grilled chicken without any sauce or any pieces of tomato or any other vegetables. They included a seperately packed mayonaise as a salad dressing. Now imagine just a shredded papaya with mayonaise. I just couldnt believe it! When I called them to ask if this was a kind of mistake, they said this is the way they make their papaya salad!! I dont know what sort of cuisine is this! ... Never ever again.

Best Szechuan restaurant in town
The place doesn't look like a typical chinese restaurant at all, actually, it's way better! The deco are very nice and artful. I am very impressed once stepped into it. For the food we started with Dan Dan Noodle, Garlic Pork Belly, which are just perfect. I ordered their Signature Chicken Brocolli special. Usually it's a boring American Chinese food but their version has a awesome sutlety to it. It is just... perfect, again... My friends ordered Sichuan Style Grilled Fish. It's tasty and beautiful. Next time, I want to get a little more "authentic" and dive into their extensive menu. It is THE best chinese join in NYC for me so far.

Great Lunch
Their lunch special is really good. I tried their Chives and Pork Dumplings today. Curiously it's not in either take-out or dinner menu, so this is the first time i tried it even I have been to this place several time. Long story short, this Chives and Port Dumpling is way much better than other dumplings they have. Actually it's so far the best chinese dumpling I had here. And it's not expensive, only $6.95 as lunch special. Highly recommended.
