Long Time Fan - Disappointed
I've been going to this place for over 10 years. At one time i thought it was the best Italian around. In the past 2 years, i've been very disappointed. Today topped it all- i may not order from tham anymore; both the Spagetti w/ Meatballs & Pasta w/ Clam Sauce were too dry, barely any sauce at all. Additionally the clam sauce was filled w/ empty clam shells, along with a sharp peice of shell which could have broken someone's tooth. the number of shells was at least 3x the number of clams. Long story short, this place has changed, it's sub par; better Italian can easily be found nearby.

It's okay.
People talk about how wonderful this place is, but it's okay. Not great not bad. The prices are high for the food and its loud, but people seem to love it. I've had to eat here three times and usually the service doesn't forget you, but people will see you here.

i agree with "eh"
They may have changed their chefs. It's never been stellar, but lately it's about as good as entrees from a pizzeria. Also, the management seems agitated. Suddenly, they have weird ordering restrictions that don't make any sense. So, in short: (1) food isnt as decent as it was, (2)weird new ordering rules, (3) snappy staff. Tons of better options in this neighborhood.

Eh
When me and my friend got there, the place was bursting with people. After we finally got a table, the service was pretty good. However, the food was only "okay" and for the amount of money we ended up paying, the servings were stingy and small. I'm not going back.

Transcedent...
This was the most unbelievable Italian we've had in New York City... It was so good, we went back the next night and are considering it tonight as well...We had 3 dishes that were all excellent: spaghetti and meatballs, pasta pici, and the gnocci. I've never had such fresh pasta before in my life! Seriously, it metls in your mouth. The second night we went, the pasta wasn't quite as good, but still awesome... still better than most. So at worst, it may blow your mind one night and be really good the next. There is a very good chance you'll see me there... I'll be the guy wolfing down three plates at a time. Atmosphere is better in the back bar or upstairs, service is good but not phenomenal... other than that can't think of any negatives. Do yourself a favor and try this place.

Great spaghetti!!
WONDERFUL spaghetti and meatballs, but I order in alot and this place doesn't take credit cards over the phone...?!? This is the only place I've come across in almost 3 years of living in the city that has this policy. VERY irritating as I usually don't have cash on me... Otherwise the atmosphere is good/okay and the food is wonderful. Recommended.
