I've lived in NYC all my life and eaten in dozens of French restaurants over the years. I was very happy with my first visit to Le Rivage (how did I miss going there for so long?) and will certainly go back again. The food was excellent, and I think very good value for the price. Even though the menu is prix fixe, in the Euro style, there are so many choices in every category that you could return again and again and not have the same things twice for a long while (there are also nightly specials). The decor of the restaurant is pleasant and homey, pretty but not too fancy, and the serving staff was absolutely wonderful. Although the restaurant was crowded when I was there, with a private party in the back section, the staff was attentive and always pleasant, and we did not feel at all rushed - we felt like welcome guests. We especially appreciated the birthday candle in the creme brulee, and the sweet singing of "Happy Birthday" to one of our party. Highly recommended.

The duck l'orange is the absolute best! I have been here about 4 times now and its honestly the best deal....especially if you eat after 8. The chocolate mousse is great too!

Read many favorable reviews. Decided to have our anniversary dinner before the theatre. We were under the impression, it was going to be a romantic spot--NOT! As soon as we walked in, we felt rushed and crowded. It was prix fixed dinner, it felt like an assembly line. The food was mediocre at best. Very disappointed for a French restaurant.

We have been going to Le Rivage for pre theatre many years, they always get it right.Great food, great service, their filet mignon pave is a knockout. If you want a great pre theatre this is the place to go. enjoy!

Found this gem of a restaurant on this site. Wife and myself were going to see Avenue Q and wanted a good fairly inexpensive French restaurant with Frogs Legs and Escargot and decided to take a chance on Le Rivage and were not disappointed. Would definitly come back and highly recommend.

We have eaten here 4 times .We found it accidentally while being shut out of more popular restaurants. I think the value is great and have no problem with service. Many of our friends have also elected to return . Perhaps the one negative review was having a bad day. I do not classify myself as a tourist and I eat in many top rated and so called " in spots "
