Great Value in NYC
Readers: Do you really need a steak the size of Utah. This restaurant offers portions for normal eaters. We tried it for the first time this past Friday. The steak is cooked perfectly, the frites stay crispy and the steak sauce is something really special.

Delicious!
I've been here about five times now and I have to say I think it's a great bargain. The salad is delicious, the meat is so tender, the sauce is delicious and the crispy fries round out a great meal. We even like the house red wine. It may not be a ton of food, but I like leaving a restaurant pleasantly full - not gorged. For about $40 a person, it's a great night out without breaking the bank. Not sure why there are so many complaints about the service...I've always found the service to be friendly, prompt and courteous. If you don't like the place, stay away...I'd rather not have to wait on a line since they don't take reservations!!

Table for One
I eat here at 2-3 times a month and love the steak, the sauce and the yummy fries. I often go by myself and the last two times I have had awful experiences with the wait staff. Apparently they must feel as if the tip won't be sufficient if you are sitting by yourself so they tend to ignore you. I was infuriated this time and a second waitress, Erica, stepped in to save the day. I found out that they share the tips which I was not happy about. The other rude waitress walked by me three times, each time looking directly at me, but yet she never took my order even though I was seated in her station. Next time I will complain. I did, however, go out of my way to thank Erika and I did tell her that she made my day.

Big Disappointment
Our expectations of this place were pretty high because we had patronized L'entrecote St. Jean in Montreal for many years. (same system- but for the NY price you also get soup and dessert!) Boy, what a letdown. Mind you, the food isn't bad. Everything else is a joke: the ambience has the charm of a chain hotel cafeteria and the waitstaff belongs in the carpathian countryside.

Greasiest fries in USA!
Steak is maximum 6 - 7 ounces. Delicious but not enough. So so steak sauce. GREASY fries. Decent salad. Good wines. Server knowledgeable and helpful.

good food. horrible service.
Decent steak & frites. What the restaurant lacks is the good service from their european counterparts. Fairly disappointed.
