    improvment

Service has improved a lot. I am a regular since two years now and I got to know a very hard working team. From managers to servers without forgetting the back of the house. The food is excellent and staff is very warm, the atmosphere is ideal for funs of classical music. I recommend to visit it, it will be with no regret at all.

    Service has improved.

Good food, always fresh. The bread is probably the best in the neighborhood. Some of the plates are better values than others, I've found--ham plate, for example, featured processed ham, not off the bone; hummus, tabouille, bababganoush platter was a bland disappointment. But the tuna tartine is worth a try, and the quiche was tasty. The salads have been consistently fresh and tasty, but the soups have tended to be a little bland. The menu selections are better than hit-or-miss though, and pretty much anyone should be able to find something to satisfy. I've been coming here at least once a week for the past six months. The service issues described by previous customers seem to have disappeared. The servers are attentive, but are also careful not to rush people who come by for coffee/dessert while they read/work/socialize.

You said it... good food, bad service

I have to agree with the crowd—good food, bad service. I was there last month and the service was truly poor. A long time passed before anyone took our order and the food was slow in coming (though very nice when it did arrive). Also, we were given our full food order before we were served anything to drink (either tap water or the drinks we had ordered). It was almost absurd—sitting outside in the sun for nearly forty minutes we could not get anyone—our waiter, busboy, anyone—to give us a glass of water! I’ve never been to any restaurant that served the meal before serving drinks. I recommend take out!

    Not recommended

My husband and I have been big fans of this French/Belgium chain but each location is very different. Having tried most locations I wish to caution anyone thinking about eating at this Amsterdam Avenue site. Service doesn't exist here. The Amsterdam & 84th St. address is right in our neighborhood. It is definitely worth the walk across the park or further south to try a different location.

    Poor Service

We've been coming to this restaurant for over a year and up until recently have been very happy with everything about this place. Recently, however, the quality of service has gone way down. The wait staff are slow and poorly trained and the entire experience is very unpleasant. We live close by in the neighborhood, but from now on we'll take the extra time to go to Le Pane Quotidien at 72nd and Colombus.

    Great food, Poor service

I was so glad when a Le Pain opened just a few blocks from me. Latte's are great, love the bread and salads. I have to say, the service at this location is so poor, I may start going back to the 72nd street location again. People that obviously work there stand around and watch as paying patrons wait as much as a full hour for their food. I thought it was a fluke the first time I went, and then the second time, I waited a full 30 minutes for my food and all I ordered was a latte and a blueberry muffin.

    Very French! Love it!

This place is great! with amazing breads & desserts - I love that fact that they close by 7pm and aren't making the place a commercial hell! So original!
