I came in hungry and tired on July 22nd around lunch time. My daughter was in the nearby hospital, so I thought I would use the break to get a special salad from this place. I opted for the goat cheese/arugula, which was dry as a bone and just plain mediocre. I also ordered cookies, which were just okay. My bill came to $20. Yes, $20 for a salad and cookies. I also had to wait 20 minutes for the salad to be ready. And then the rude lady at the counter told me I could NOT sit at any of the tables, as I was only a take-out customer. Apparently I wasn't considered a "REAL" customer because I didn't order from a waiter. As someone who eats out a lot, this is very disappointing. I will definitely tell everyone I know about this experience.

I have to make the trip down to NY for my chemo and this place is right near Sloan Kettering. My family and I had tried this same resturant over near 57th and was delighted when it opened on 1st ave. I love to sit at the large table at the center of the place and seeing all hte people there. I have been ordering the Atlantic shrimp dish. Love it every time. The other tartines are good too. I had a roast beef and artichoke the other day that was also terrific. You should really try this place. It's one of my favorites. The waitstaff is always very friendly and helpful too.

A great place to for food, coffee or something sweet. Also a great place to work.

My friend and I had brunch here yesterday morning prior to the Princess Grace exhibit at Sotheby's. Great, great place. The best coffee, granola - wonderful atmosphere. Very pleasant place to take a break, enjoy a little something in the city. Highly recommend to anyone.

This place is hands down the best coffee i have ever had. attentive people work there and they get your coffee to ya in a jiffy.
