    Authentic French gem

I have been to this place three times now and never been disappointed. The food is tasty with a combination of classic dishes like coq au vin and onion soup and a great burger and risotto. They do these warm rolls which is a nice touch and show old movies silently behind the bar on a big screen. The decor has changed recently which makes the bar area really homely and comfy - red walls, art and banquette seating. A great neighbourhood spot!

    Oh dear!

Oh dear! Absolutely the most inept service I can remember in NYC starting with the manager on down. Our party of six was largely ignored for most of the meal. We got to share three menus, when I asked the waiter for more he failed to track any down. Didn't take our drink order. Completely forgot my daughter's entree, and when asked about it her food still didn't arrive leaving my daughter feeling humiliated. Eventually she said never mind, our whole table having finished although we had waited until our food was cold before starting as we were still expecting her to get something to eat. No apology from the manager, no offer to comp anything. (At the end of the meal the waiter told me he had comped me a glass of wine - wow, what a prince.) We brought our own cake for dessert, asked for ice-cream to go with, ice-cream arrived but no cake. Cake eventually showed up, ice-cream half-melted. We were in the process of cutting the cake when the bartender offered to have the kitchen do it. "Oh sure" I said. (Idiot.) You guessed it - cake never returned. Finally went to ask for cake's return and it showed up in time to sit in puddles of melted ice-cream. Then they (oh so generously) replaced the melted ice-cream, gave us huge entree forks to eat it with and never came back. We sat bemused for twenty minutes in the detritus of our meal while the manager bused and reset empty tables around us, walking by our apparently invisible party. The food was actually delicious but the experience was so miserable it didn't matter.

    Great French cuisine.

We had a voucher for mussels, fries and a bottle of wine. We also ordered the frisee and caesar salads ... everything plus the service was excellent. We will definitely come back.

    Nice

Very nice, partly because it's undiscovered and there is always a table available which is surprising. Good food and service. Very French

    Great atmosphere -

Lovely, clean and airy -- excellent service, great menu but execution 'spotty'. guess they're still working out the 'kinks' I would definitely recommend it though!

    Welcome to our neighborhood!

The meal started with a warm greeting from the very gracious hostess and owner. The tomato tart was savory and crispy. The clams and spaghettii were better than any Italian place and the portion size was generous. My husband literally licked the plate! The stuffed quail, which looked a little small was in fact so rich and tasty that ut proved to be more than enough. The stuffing was unctuous and fragrant. The sea bass special was cooked perfectly and had inventive sides. Too full for desser but the neighbors choices looked yummy. If the rolls were homemade they should be patented and sold commercially. Next time I'm going to take mine home. Although the decor appears to be a work in progress, the food rivals that of Gotham. Welcome to a talented chef. We needed you!
