    Great food, poor service

This was my second time there for Brunch. The first time was great all around so i decided to take take some friend there for brunch last weekend. Again the food was good but we couldn't believe our waitress. She was just inattentive. Not sure is I will recommend to friends.

Delicious crepes, fabulous patio, genuinely friendly waitstaff

I ate here with a friend for the third time and again it was superb. My friend, who is from Los Angeles, was shocked by how terrible the service is in NYC and was delighted to finally have exceptional and genuine service here at Le Gamin. I can't lie, it was quite refreshing. The patio was beautiful as we ate our crepes and sipped our mimosas in the sun, surrounded by flowers and vines, and chatting with tables near by. We will definitely be coming back before she returns to LA!

    Great food but...

We went there for breakfast one weekday morning and the food was fantastic, and the server (though not really the hostess) was great. We tried placing an order for takeout today, though, and we should have known something was wrong when they didn't bother to get any info beyond what we wanted. We got there when they said it would be ready (30 minutes for 2 croques monsieurs), they had just closed the kitchen to prep for dinner, and no one had any idea where our order was. After asking around, one of the staff apologized, and offered a half-hearted excuse that they had kitchen problems. Worth eating there, but not going to bother trying takeout again, especially given some of the other reviews.

How to screw up a cheese plate

I'm not sure if this is another case of a decent restaurant moving to Brooklyn and getting lost in translation, or poor attention to detail in a takeout order, but you'd be better off ordering from a snack bar in the Châtelet Metro station than here. The $9 cheese platter consisted of three pieces each of two different kinds of cheese (both had the same general texture and flavor), about 10 sad grapes rolling around, and a condiment cup of marcona almonds. No bread. No presentation. No variety. The crepe was so soggy, it may as well have been run through the dishwasher. It was filled with canned mushrooms and unmelted domestic brie. I have no idea why they even bother. Blech.

    Great Brunch

We went here for the first time today for brunch, and I don't know what took us so long. Terrific menu and delicious preparation. So many places overcook eggs & potatoes, but my omelet was terrific! I also found the service super attentive. We'll be back for sure.

    Highly recommend

I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times. It's best to go when you can sit in the garden because the inside is pretty cramped. But, they give you plenty of delicious food for brunch and it's a very unassuming, relaxed restaurant, especially for being French and for appealing to hipsters in a gentrifying neighborhood.
