Le Bistro D'a Cote

I made reservations through opentable.com for a VERY special occasion. I called 3 days before the date to confirm that they will be serving "the early bird pre-fixe" and they said Yes! When I showed up I was given a Holiday pre-fixe menu that was at least twice as much $$$. When I asked about the early-bird they said that they are not serving any other menu today and looked at me like I was crazy. I showed them the calls I made to the Bistro in my call logs, but they denied it. They didn't offer me the old menu prices or even suggested any kind of discount. To tell you the truth It was so late in the game I would have stayed and paid twice as much but I just didn't want to give them my business. Thank goodness there was an Italian place right across the street where the food was good, service excellent and no BS holiday menu and I texted my guests to go to the other place. Needless to say, my special night was RUINED.

Altho I love their endive salad and the Pates a la Carbonara, the burgers are outstanding and come with great fries. The Deluxe Burger with truffled fois gras is over the top!

My fiance and I love the mussels! We've enjoyed them all except the pastis. The wait staff keeps our water glasses full and otherwise stays out of our business, which we like. If we need another glass of wine, we'll flag someone down. This place is slow... just the way a French restaurant ought to be. I always leave satisfied, not too much food, not too much wine, just right.

The place looks charming from the outside but I was fooled! I think this is hands down the most disappointing experience I've ever had in a French restaurant. My first waiter was the rudest I have ever met and he honestly made me lose my appetite before I even ordered. When I asked him about the Carbonara he went on for 3 minutes about how he can't comment on it because he would never eat anything so fattening and heavy. The onion soup tasted like it came from a packet and they tried to pass super-market strawberry jam for homemade fig jam with my foie gras appetizer that cost $17. I will never ever set foot in this place again!

Le Bistro D'a Cote is now one of our neighborhood favorites. Never disappointed. Food and service are great, I like the duck confit. Sophisticated yet comfy atmosphere. Love the 3-piece jazz combo on Thursday evening and Sunday brunch. Nice, comfortable bar.

Very solid and fresh french food. You do not feel as if you are being transported to France but the food is very solid, a very good menu and nice size portions for the money. The atmosphere is warm, contemporary. The bar area is very nice. The service is magnificent and friendly.
