What an amazing place! The food was awesome (although I felt it was overpriced for the portion sizes we got on the tasting menu) and the service was out of this world. The attention to detail was unbelievable and we were treated like royalty. I'm not usually one for fancy food...give me a good juicy cheeseburger any day...but this was really impressive.

    One Gripe

Extraordinary food, decor, service. One gripe: Waitstaff welcomes you by saying: Can we offer you champagne or something else to drink to start. When you offer something to someone it is complimentary (the manager knew our guest very well). When you are not offering anything for free you ask, "Would you like something to drink to start, champagne or wine perhaps". Just saying. $25 glasses of champagne and $37 dollars per wine pour are fine if you know you are going to pay for it . $875 for four people with the $120 pp fixed price meal. You do the math on drinks.

    Um, what happened to LB?

This is a classic case of the emperor having no clothes. The food is bland and boring. Presumably it was good at one time, as it's still somewhat popular. Gosh, what a disappointment. There I said it - "look, Eric has no clothes on!"

    Mediocre as best

I was very disappointed with my lunch at Le Bernardin. It was amateurish with a very messy staff, unreliable food (I got spines in my appetizer !) and bland. 3 michelin stars are given to restaurants with excellent food but this was just messy and not worth the 3 stars. I asked for the chef as I got a spine in my fish, and was not even given an apology, I donĀ“t think the chef got the message either, I will be reporting to michelin cause this does not cut it.

I'll cut to the chase and just say this places absolutely delivers the goods. It is honestly the best fish house in New York and one of the best meals I have had in a while. It had been many many years since I was last there and do not remember the experience being anything special so I hesitated going back. Rest assured I have already made another reservation to go back after my meal last night. Start with the tuna which is so simply but elegantly prepared and move into the sea scallops which were plump and delicious. Then try the lobster and finish with the any of the main course fishes. Even the dessert was spot on. I can't wait to go back and try even more. It's nice to see a place that lives up to its billing.
