I have been several times and always leave happy. The setting is consistently intimate and inviting and everyone really makes you feel welcome the moment you walk through the door. We had the salmon tartare (perfect for a summer day), the mussels baratin with shallots and white wine (my wife's favorite), and the steak frites (juicy and flavorful with a pepper sauce). They are a great addition to the neighborhood and we will be returning again soon.

My wife and I were in the City and decided to have an early dinner in the Village. We lucked into this great spot and are so glad we did. They have a choice of 6 or 12 escargot and my wife jumped on 12. She loved them. She also had onion soup which was great. I had the excellent pâté with steak tartare. Everything else around us looked equally excellent.

Everything about this spot, from the welcome, to the food, to the value. It is a hidden gem. Part of me wants it to stay hidden ;) but truly a great spot. I will absolutely be back. Going to make this a regular in the dinner rotation.

We decided to eat at Le Baratin last night after a friend referred us to it. The food and cozy atmosphere of this place is fantastic. The feel is very authentic French and the staff goes out of their way to ensure a great dining experience. I would recommend the Steak Tartare - it is fantastic. My wife had the duck which she said was great. Mussels are very fresh and made in a very tasty broth. The prices are quite reasonable. We can't wait to go again!

We were just on vacay in NYC from PA, and this place just "made" our visit. It was amazing. We ordered the salmon on toast appetizer (scrumptious and huge portion), then I "special" ordered several things (with modifiers, a waiter's nightmare!). The server (a lovely french girl) was so accommodating, and also took my husband's steak order perfectly. Everything - from the wine, to the cozy "nook" atmosphere, to the rustic decor, to the food AND the hours (open VERY late, woohoo).....was perfection. I'm not a food expert, but I do know and love good food, and this place made me feel like there wass no reason to dine elsewhere for a long time! Truly wonderful owner, he even showed us his little baby girl - You get the sense that this entire little establishment is a family. I do believe they own another older establishment, but this one will definitely hold its own if NYers are smart and go there! :D We didn't make reservations, but it might be a good idea to make them.
