A friend introduced me to Lazzara's and boy was I surprised. The pizza is a combimation of Lombardis and Johns and is square. Definitely stop by, but do so before 1pm when it gets packed.

On top of having the best pizza in Manhattan, Lazzara's is frequented by some of New York City's top movers and shakers. Jay-Z is often caught having a slice of there famous square styled pizza with owner Tony Lazzara (also founder of cherry bomb records). This warm homestyle atmosphere nitch is the fashion buisness' best kept secret.

The restaurant may be narrow and cramped with limited ambiance, but the square pizza is the best. We always seem to get the pizza but the chicken parm grinder was excellent; it was the moistest chicken i've ever had. The number of pizza boxes going out the door at lunch (for delivery) is also a testament to the great taste. And the waitress you see on the website is just terrific.

Lazzara's Pizza Cafe was a real treat in the hustle and bustle of mid-town. Located upstairs off the street level, it is a small cafe with tables close together, nice lighting and not your run of the mill NYC pizza. Don't get me wrong, I'm a lover of traditional pizza but this was a thin crispy square pizza that was a nice change from the usual pie. You can order either a half or whole pizza, a half is three square slices, a whole six. The prices start at $5.00 for half a regular cheese pizza but try the specials. The Pizza Bianco with sauce was delicious. Dinner prices are reasonable, for example Penne Vodka $7.95 and includes salad and bread. Don't miss this little gem.
