Lattanzi was recommended to us by the owner of a New York City establishment, who's been in the city for years and, obviously, knows the most wonderful places to dine . . . Lattanzi was a lovely experience . . . the atmosphere and decor was cozy and comfortable. The buffalo mozzarella and roasted peppers appetizer is to die for, and the broccoli rabe and sausage was delish. Both our dinners were lovely - the fontina stuffed veal chop and sea bass were prepared perfectly, the portions satisfying but not gluttonous, and the sides of potatoes and roasted eggplant subtle, yet tasty. Our waiter was a sweet and handsome young man who was eager to offer his opinion as to the menu and wine . . . and was right on with his suggestions. Desserts were fab. I will be back with guests in tow! Pricey? Maybe - but who cares, and what isn't in the City if it's fabulous!

My inlaws, my husband and I ate here before a Wed evening show. The arugula salad was very fresh and seasoned lightly but effectively. The portobello mushroom special was good and the tomato/mozz salad typical. Pasta dishes were very fresh and portions good size, not outlandish. Ravioli stuffed with veal and chix was tasty but a bit dry. Tiramasu and cannolis were good; pineapple sorbet good but stringy. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. However, our waiter was a bit cold and very much in a hurry. Seemed annoyed that we questioned the size of dishes and that we wanted explanations of how a few dishes were prepared. Took a while to get ground pepper for our salads. And my house sangiovese was way too warm. Having recently eaten at 2 similar places nearby, we found the entree prices a bit high.

My wife didn't hesitate when I asked her where she wanted to go for her birthday: her favorite restaurant has never let us down. The food and the service are always to the highest standard and the desserts alone are worth the trip.

One of the best in the city. Haven't had a bad meal yet, and the deserts are just heavenly.

The service is very good, the staff is helpfull and kind. The atmosphere is very rompantic. Fresh roses and a lit candle in your table makes the place really cozy. And the food is just great. The fried artichokes are delicious and the Napoleon in heavenly!! It's not cheap but I wouldn't say overpriced, the quality of the food makes up for the price. They just take AMEX or Dinners, I didn't have any of those, but, hey!, I can not blame them, I should have asked before getting to the restaurant. Can you imagine having to warn hundreds of people every day when they take the reservation that they just accept AMEX?? It was annoying at the time but it was my responsability to make sure I can pay the bill. Besides they kindly offered to send me the bill so I could send a personal check to pay for that dinner!!... I don't know any other restaurant in NY that would do that!

not only is the food over priced....they only accept amex, but don't tell you when you make a reservation....we were not the only people with that problem the artichokes, touted in zagats, were fair at best
