We were mistreated from the second we walked in the door. The coatcheck woman was rude, we were seated by the bathroom, and our server became more hostile as the night progressed. He clearly did not want to be bothered with us. I will not set foot in that place again. I don't recommend it unless you're maybe wearing a mink coat.

I love this restaurant and brought my family from out of town to check out some of my favorite dishes. We were first ignored, then when we placed an order, the waiter rolled his eyes at what we ordered and treated us as if we crawled out from under a rock. They then preceded to ignore us even though the restaurant was fairly empty while regaling others with wonderful service as they had placed large orders and we only came in for apps and dessert after the theater. It was if they decided we weren't going to have a big bill so why treat us well. I was embarrassed and my guests thought independently that the service was very rude. The food was good not as good as it has been in the past. I was planning to go for a big birthday coming up but have decided not to as I don't want to risk having the terrible service I experienced today and clearly others have judging from these reviews. Really not acceptable anywhere but certainly not in a restaurant with as many waitstaff supposed there to welcome and serve. Really a shame.

October 2008 my wife and I attended as they had tables available at the time. We had started out to another restaurant hoping to get a table before the show, however without reservations, it wasn't possible. Thus we landed at the Lattanzi who informed us we would have to be completed our meal within 1 1/2 hours as they had reservations arriving by that time. We took a chance thinking we could easily be out within that time. In the end the food was good, not exceptional but altogether enjoyable.The prices were a little pretentious. For what we paid, a little over $200 including a $35 bottle of wine (least expensive on the list). I have eaten better at many locations world wide for much less. As it happened, we completed by the time the reservations had arrived and the service, up until that point had been as one would expect at any restaurant. Upon paying the bill with a tip of 15%, the server returned to the table to inquire whether the meal had been acceptable. I replied that it had been fine. At that point he publicly and in an aggressive tone complained that the tip was not up to the standard. I asked what he considered the standard and he stated that a minimum of "18% would be required". It may be that in NYC the norm is 18% however nowhere is it acceptable for a server to complain publicly about the tip. It seems they don't understand what tipping is about and consider it a right to receive a minimum amount. In fact if that is how they feel, it ought to be publicly displayed for all to read and included on the bill. The display of "attitude" , the attempt at public embarrassment and intimidation tactics are unacceptable, anywhere, any time.

I'd absolutely recommend Lattanzi for a great pre-theater dinner. My boyfriend likes it much better than Becco, but I think they're about equal. The food is delicious. I got a simple appetizer of tomato, mozzarella and basil, and the mozzarella was warm on top of the cool tomato..it was superb. Service was also great. We got a gift certificate and they hand-delivered it to our apartment (although we do live nearby).

My husband and I stopped in for what we hoped would be an enjoyable dinner and we left disappointed and humiliated. To begin let me state that this was not our first choice for restaurant. We had gone into Becco -the restaurant next doior- and they had been unable to seat us. We happily sauntered into our second choice. Upon arriving we were taken in by the quiet ambiance and the impeccably groomed staff. Our waiter was initially attentive, although he was a little peculiar and seemed to be rushing us fromn the get-go. Our driks and appetizers arriveed promptly and were quite delicious. The Carpaccio Affumicato and the Portabello Mushroom special! (Both good choices) The evening seemed to be taking off to a great start.... However, our preliminary judgements were hasty. When our dinner course arrived, everything looked good. The food's presentation was not outstanding, but it made the food appear palatable. My husband had ordered a Mediterranean fish special. He seemed fairly contented with the food. And I ordered the Vitello allo Valdostana. The veal was tough and I contemplated asking for a steak knife to cut through it. We tried calling our waiter over, but he was MIA and another much more accommodating waiter came to the recue. He took away the veal and promptly offered me the Capellini Special (Lobster). I agreed.....BIGT MISTAKE!!!!!! My first bite was pasta ONLY, however it was laiden with a fishy taste which was impalatable. My husband tasted a bite of the lobster and agreed it was tough and fishy. We told our new waiter and he removedthe dish. (Fine) When the bill came we were charged for the terrible capellini lobster special. We asked if they could do anything about it and both our original waiter and then the Maitre D' were volatile, rude and agressive in telling us it was impossible to remove the charge from our bill. The Maitre D' even went so far as to condescendingly tell us (in both an insulting and aggressive tone) that you cannot possibly expect to eat good food and get great service when out to dine. If something is not up to par, that's basically :" too bad". My major issue is not the poor food, or the lax service, but more that the waitstaff was rude, aggressive and inattentive. When paying for food and service at ANY establishment -whether it be a 1 star or a 5 star- all customers should be treated well and with respect.

The food was very good but for the prices, the service should have been better. We asked for additional bread but never received it and waited about 15 minutes before our water was refilled. The entrees were a little higher than avg prices but wine and dessert was overpriced. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as it is spacious and you are not shoved in like sardines like some other NYC restaurants. Overall, it was good but I think I would try somewhere else next time.

I have been here three times and I am never going back. The first time the food was "decent", the other time the food was poor and to give it one more try my family and I went last night and the food was disgusting - $25 for a plate of under cooked pasta and 4 teeny, tiny shrimp I could barely see! With all the great restuarants on that block this place is a joke! A touristy rip off.
