The best
This restaurant has a variety of foods which are all excellent. I eat there everyday and enjoy it tremendously. Although it is expensive...

Better than lombardi's
I live in the neighborhood and have tried all the pizza places. l'asso simply is the best. The dough and toppings are superb. No "professional" reviewer would dare say this, but l'asso is better than perennial zagat winner lombardi's, which is a block away from l'asso.

A very good restaurant
A very nice, quaint establishment in Little Italy. Don?t be deceived by the exterior of the place, which makes it look like some trendy, overpriced joint. L?asso is actually rather homey, with a pleasant staff (the waitress who waited on us was very nice and accomodating, and she and the rest can be heard chumming it up), a brick oven where the pizza?s are baked which lends itself to a comforting atmosphere, and very reasonable prices for a pizza of exceptional quality. Kate and I had the 18?? (which is actually rectangular) pizza, half Margharita and half the prosciutto-oriented topping. It was very delicious! And the chap who made our after-dinner cappucino?s brewed-up a delicious cup. Don?t know how it is at other times, but when we went in on an early evening on a Sunday, it was only us and a local couple from the district, hence the Little Italy quaintness I am reporting.

Don't Overlook It
I've been coming here since it opened up and have always enjoyed the pizzas, especially the one with Sorpressata. They have some decent wines at a fair price. All-in-all, a great option for the neighborhood.

Fantastic pizza - the real deal!
I was in (a very long) line to eat at the old standby Lombardi's down the street. We got impatient, walked down the block and saw an inviting looking wood burning oven. We decided to try it out and found our favorite new restaurant. If you like real wood-oven Italian pizza, this is the best. Very fresh ingredients, and creative combinations are terrific. We've been back many times, and the pastas are also great.

The Best
Friends from here (Connecticut) who are exceedingly picky about where they eat--pronounced the pizzas here as "the best we've ever had!" We had to try it and they are right---the best fresh ingredients, the best combinations on pizzas, the best appetizers, pasta, salads, and a friendly helpful staff--terrific. Try the Pizza al Tartufo (portobello mushroom pesto, cheese, fresh rosemary, drizzled with truffle oil) or the Pizza alla Roba (pear, hazelnut, gorgonzola and mozzarella). While you're there, notice the ceiling design--a work of art!

Mangia - as if you were in Italy!
If you have visited Italy - you will know what I am talking about. The food at L'asso is incredibly delicious and authentic. Not to mention the pizza, which comes out of a brick oven. It's the real thing! The pasta dishes will fascinate you. The Italian staff is very welcoming and the prices could not be better. So if you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant you have to stop by.
