Lantern

The food is great, good prices. The service is very poor. Waiters and manager are rude most of the time.

I ordered lunch delivery and very clearly requested brown rice INSTEAD of white rice. When the food arrived, I was given both white and brown rice and was charged extra for the brown rice. Because I was so annoyed (on principle, not the measly $2), I called to complain. The woman who answered my call said there are no substitutions for lunch and didn't seem to care that the person who took my order never gave any indication of this.

I've only had lunch here, and the special is a good deal, but I'm always sort of underwhelmed by the food. It's fine/okay, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Avoid this place on busy nights or during lunch rush. It's poorly managed - they have just never been into the concept of service can't handle more than a few customers at a time. You can expect to wait an hour or more for delivery and your food will arrive cold. I live nearby and have limited delivery options so I am stuck with Lantern. The young manager behind the bar gets buried every Friday and Saturday night and often she simply doesn't answer the phone at all. Food is sometimes good, but usually average - and it's never authentic tasting or spicy enough. Space is the best attribute - very pleasant, nice lighting.

I went with a few of my coworkers to have lunch. The rice was good but the problem was that during the lunch rush they were being rude and acted like they were in a big hurry just to hand the food on the table. I can understand some of these restaurants have a tough lunch hour because everyone goes out to eat but sometimes you just have to keep your cool and be more polite to people. I'd rather come back when it quiets down between 3 and 4 in the afternoon

I go to Lantern with colleagues at least two times a week. The manager served us as it was a busy day it seemed she helped in the kitchen that day. She threw down the food on the table for the 5 people at my table. It seemed we were supposed to figure out who got what. When we asked to speak with her because we felt she treated us poorly, one of the waiters told us "she said she is not coming out she is busy." That waiter did not even concern himself with asking us what the problem was or whether he could resolve it . We were all hurt and insulted as we were regulars who always left at least a 20% tip. We have resolved that we will not contribute to keeping them busy, we will not be returning.

Excellent food, very warm and comfortable atmosphere, and very good service. Anyone who doesn't like this place is probably looking for some trendy Manhattan baloney. —xxx
