    tiny tiny portions

    the food is tasty and the service is quick. After that it goes downhill. the portion sizes are ridiculously small. if you told me it was a tapas bar i'd believe it. 2 people need to order at least 3 dishes and appetizers in order to leave satiated. yes, the meals are cheap but when you have to order so much it hardly makes it worth it.

    Disappointed

    First let me say the food was wonderful! The service is something else. Agree with previous reviewer. Attitude and service needs to improve. Looks like they have added fake trees and candles in a weak and cheap attempt at trendiness. This is Manhattan, we know what trendy is. Not so fast Lantern! Remember, You are located on Second Ave.

    Not honest

    So I had gone to this restaurant when it first opened and it was BYOB. Called before I headed down there to confirm that it was still BYOB and they had confirmed that it was. We go there and they tell us it is not BYOB and that we could not have possibly called because they would not have told us such news. They now charge a $10 corkage fee/bottle. The food was ok, nothing spectacular although it does have a cool ambiance and unique womens bathroom faucet.

    Definitely Slipping

    We used to go to the former Thai place here: Pongsri. Lantern started off very well but now I long for the old place. Tle Lantern is more and more a scene than a serious place to eat. Service has definitely slid backwards. It's like they have stopped caring. Food has gone from very good to fair. The bottom line is that if you want to hang with your buudies, Lantern is fine, Otherwise, keep shopping. Hopefully, the crew at Lantern will adjust their attitude, but I'm not holding my breath. Full disclosure: My wife and I are probably the oldest people to go here. It could be our business is not wanted. That's too bad because we were on a first name basis with the old crew at Pongsri.

    Decent Food - Portions Have gotten small

    I have been going to this place for awhile since it opened and it used to be really good. Now when I get delivery the portions are maybe 2/3 of what they used to be. You basically get a small container of mostly vegetables for 10 bucks plus tax and tip delivery.

    def worth a visit

    I have walked by Lantern repeatedly on the way home from my favorite yogurt shop and was curious to try the food since the atmosphere was so cute. Was told portions were small but to my surprise they were perfectly filling and delicious, especially for under 10$. I recommend the wok fried with rama sauce, delish! Also, the sink in the bathroom is totally worth the visit!

    Gotten greedy

    I loved this place since day 1 and gave it great reviews before, but they have gotten greedy...A liqour license with expensive drinks is one thing, but after they got a large clientele they cut some of the dishes into half the size they were when it first opened. The basal chili beef is almost 10 bucks and it's not even enough to feed a 95lb woman - especially for takeout. The containers are only 1/5 filled when they should be 3/4 filled. The main dishes are less than the size of most places luncheon deals. Great food, great atmosphere, but disappointing portions and greediness for a place that makes a ton of money.
