What a joke
I really wanted to like this place. I live two blocks away, passed it many times and finally decided to eat there with my better half. First off, the waitstaff has absolutely no clue about the menu, it was absolutely ridiculous. As for entrees, I specifically asked two separate wait staff if the fish dish I was ordering was battered and deep fried, both said no it was just sauteed. I asked if they were sure b/c I didn't want anything fried in batter. Of course the snapper came out looking like fish and chips so I returned it. Then to top things off, my girlfriend ordered mahi mahi which came in two pieces. It was so over cooked it was harder than rubber, we needed a steak knife to cut it and it was inedible. She returned hers and asked for a noodle dish which was $10 cheaper. The waiter asked if we would mind paying the higher price for the fish since we tasted it! Are you kidding me? I then asked to speak to a manager and they said they don't have one. Never going back again. The only thing nice was the ambiance. Don't waste your time or money

Good
I've tried most thai restaurants in the area and keep coming back to Lantern. The food is so good! If you eat in they have dinner/drink specials, and a cool atmosphere. If you take out it's still very good. Just expect a 30 minute or so wait. Overall, I love it.

Disappointed
Food quality was 0 because it didn't show up. Value was 5 because we ended up not paying for it. Service was 0 because we live on the same street as the restaurant, and it still took nearly an hour for the food to show up. Penalty box -- 6 months. Embarassing is a fair word. Could have gone to trader joe's, bought the ingredients and made pad thai myself. True story.

To spicy
To spicy! Couldn't hardly finish the green curry! Other than that it was great! Tasty

Not worth it
Nothing here left a lasting impression. Dinner entrees portions were very small! My rama sauce chicken had about five very tiny chunks of chicken. My friend also thought her curry entree was small, more sauce than actual food. Flavor and freshness was just OK. I've had much better Thai in NYC. I won't return.

Yum!
Loved the Udon Spicy Basil Noodle! Rama wok is good too if you like a spicy peanut sauce. Definitely coming back! Great food, great atmosphere!

A favourite
This is kind of my local place to go, I cant believe I never wrote a review because this is one of my favourite places to go. The atmosphere is quite cute, perhaps not "first date" worthy - but why not? The value is fantastic, really good food, very well prepared and presented, for a reasonable price. I keep bringin my friends visiting from Latinamerica and they love it: original flavors and a NY vibe without the crazy price tag. I started coming when they first opened and keep coming for more. Absolute favourites: Lantern lemonade as a cocktail, Lantern shrimp and spring rolls as apetizers, and any wok dish or the duck salad (plenty of meat, delicious and only slightly spicy dressing). Service is unfussy but well meaning and fast.
