Lansky's Old World Deli

I have never written a negative review and I feel terrible about writing this one but I am at the end of my rope with Lansky's. I called last night for delivery of a brisket sandwich with gravy on the side. For the umpeenth time I was told that they were having a problem with the machine and I could not pay with a credit card which meant I had to leave my apt to go the the ATM which almost defeats the whole purpose of staying home and having delivery. but the icing on the cake was yet again they delivered my sandwich without the side of gravy. It never fails, every time I order they forget something. I was so annoyed that I didn't even bother to call and complain or ask them to send back the delivery man I just made the decision to no longer order from them.

Had the most disappointing lunch of my life today at lanskys. I will never return and I work in the LC area. Ordered the half corned beef sand. with caesar salad. my husband the same but with tongue. first a long wait to give order. then no pickles--out of them at 1:00pm. then 35min wait for salad which arrived without any dressings. finally sandwiches arrived after 40 min. wait. Out of tongue so my husband ordered roast beef. my corned beef was dry, stringy and fatty and seemed to be cut with the grain so therefore completely inedible. when we complained the waiter blamed it on new deli slicer.

Ordered lunch and found the corned beef tasted like damp rope, the potato salad was unappetizing (with undercooked potatos and poor seasoning, and the canned soda was warm. Maybe they should taste their own food before delivering it. Too bad, they could do much better.

We ordered humus and salad and potato latkes as appetizers, fried chicken, and potato knish. Chicken and potato knish were certainly good, I would recommend it if you go there. Humus seemed to be brought from the deli around the corner, but yes, what can you expect from humus? Tomato in the salad were dowdy, it tasted like canned tomato even though it looked fresh. The worse thing was potato latkes - not only we were very disappointed by their taste but two of us got stomach sick in a couple hours... Can potato cause it? I guess yes if you fry latkes in such way :-( We had chocolate ice-cream for a desert, it was OK. Overall, please be careful when you order because along with good and tasty dishes you may have something that your body will just refuse to digest.

5 of us ordered the soup & half-sandwich special. The waiter brought the soup, then told us there was no turkey. Okay we'll have pastrami. No pastrami. Okay we'll have brisket. No brisket. This is a deli restaurant? It was like a joke only for some reason it didn't amuse me.

It seems Lansky's have hired a new member to its Management Staff. Quite Professional and Stern, I'd Say. From a poor experience in the past at this local deli, I decided to come in again. This new manager, was on the waitstaff like white is on rice, making sure the water glass were full during our entire meal, empty plates were taken away, our waitress was in eye view. It was quite the experience, refreshing I must say: If her presence is permanent at Lanskys' I found my new home. Food has always been good- with her around the service is about to be a complete turn around, she is a no nonsense person- pays attention to detail and customers. Viewers You must go back to see what I'm talking about.

Unfortunately, this place has good food, but ordering it is a joke. It doesn't matter how many times you ask for extra mustard, or a side of cole slaw, or whatever, it will never come, at least the first time. There is now way to personalize your order. While we like the food, the same thing happened to us again tonight for the umpteenth time. I'm hoping the restaurant gets this message b/c we'd love to be able to order from here again w/o having to deal with the headache that goes along with it. When you own a deli, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that there has to be a decent process in place to take orders and deliver them. Come on guys, you have good food, get your delivery together, man. Hire a delivery consultant if you have to.
