My favorite place in the neighborhood

I heart Landmarc. I go here all the time, and the best parts about it are the wine list (sooo reasonably priced and a huge selection) and the desserts (they're cheap and small, and they encourage you to get a sampling of several). It's not the absolute best food ever, but it is really good, and the whole experience is always great, because the service is nice, not snooty.

    Agree with reviewer below

Had been wanting to go to Landmarc since it opened but never made the trip to Tribeca from uptown. Went tonight and was pretty disappointed. Our waiter barely paid attention to us and when he did he acted as if he were doing us a favor. Then there is the food. We had the foie gras and bone marrow. Not very good. Then I had the steak tartare and my husband had the rib eye. The rib eye was pretty good (but I could have made it at home) and the steak tartare was good if one likes capers alot. We ordered the side of mushrooms which was too oily. The only good thing was the homemade caramels served when the bill came.

    Poor service

I have been here before and liked it, but this time made the mistake of going at 6:00 pm on a sunday. The room was full of families with noisy young children. The waiter was barely there: he recited specials without waiting to see if we were listening; forgot to bring me my beer; did not bring the extra plate my wife requested; and ignored our empty bread basket. Usually I don't fuss about service, but this was especially poor.

    Fantastic

Went to Landmarc with a group of friends and had a great time. Terrific food and great setting. I loved the hangar steak and the Caesar was great as well. The rest of the group was equally happy with their Bluefish, Pork Chops and Burgers. The wine list is everything it has been billed to be, as we were able to enjoy a few bottles of great wine and not feel the pain when the bill arrived. I shall return.

    Truly fabulous

We headed into NYC for my sisters bday- being from NJ im familar w/ lots of the trendy areas/restaurants... Landmarc is a must to go to! we were 6 people, so had a reservation- but even the wait didn't seem that long. it was a beautiful night so they had the large windows/walls pulled back. atmosphere was very fun & the food/wine- to-die-for. we started w/ the calamari w/ pesto & tomato sauce- YUM, as well as an order of the large mussels- truly LARGE. excellent. we all had steck (3 filets cooked exactly as ordered), and i had the steak salad- amazing! The dessert sampler at the end of the evening was completely adorable & a great way to try a variety... for the 6 of us it was perfect amount too. the waitstaff were very attentive & right ontop of filling our wine, etc... which by the way- CAN'T BEAT the prices on their wines! a MUST try next time your in the city!

    Must try!

The wine list here is worth a trip alone! Although the food was delicious as well. We started with the smoked mozzarella and ricotta fritters...very light and fluffy with a tasty spicy marinara sauce. Both my husband and I had steak, I chose the strip and was not disappointed while my husband said his ribeye wasn't that great of a cut. The butter d'maitre and bearnaise sauces I both highly recommend. We got the dessert sampler and were not disappointed, every single thing was tasty. I've not seen a better priced wine list in the city, and the choices are endless. The J Winery Pinot Noir is the best!

    Disappointing

Went for a celebration dinner after reading many good reviews. We expected good, inventive bistro fare, nothing fancy - but the food ranged from boring to borderline subpar. Fried calamari was tasteless, shrimp rissotto was gluey, mussel soup was fair but lacked character. The atmosphere is welcoming and the wine list outstanding (no markups - just retail), but there is no excuse for not being able to turn out standard bistro dishes in a fresh and inviting manner. If you go, stick to something as cheap and plain as possible, and concentrate on the wine list.
