    lost its luster

I went to dinner here recently and was very disappointed. The appetizers were fine but the hangar steak was thin and looked like a long, skinny piece of dog poo. If they did not have a decent piece of meat left they should not have served it. The meat was dry as a bone even though it was cooked medium (i ordered medium rare) which means it was probably old since it was not juicy and it was also oversalted to cover up the taste. The pasta was gummy and bland... not al dente like I am used to having. The dessert was cold hard pastry with chocolate filling. The only highlight of the meal was the wine, which was good. They must have sent the chef to the new restaurant at the Time Warner Center. I will not be returning.

    Subpar food--mediocre

Came here with high expectations but alas the food and service were incredibly disappointing. Monkfish is not recommended at all--was greasy, rubbery, overcooked. Ribeye was mediocre, served cold with a slimy overdressed salad--for 34 bucks a pop, I can find many other restaurants that will serve much better steak. Great wine list but just not worth dealing with the subpar food and spotty service.

    not recommended

Been here regular for the past one year, but past six months wondering why everything is deteriorating, when I inquired one of the server told me that as they have to open their new location at Columbus Circle all the Cooks and servers were moved there. I wonder how such a great chef can do this. I am not going to this place anymore and nor do i recommend.

    What happened?

I was a regular up until about six months ago. I'd go after work, late night, even for lunch every now and then. Food was excellent for the price - some steaks were downright excellent. The wine, of course, was the big draw - full and half bottles with very low mark-up. I'd gotten to know a few of the service and bar staff - they were very knowledgable, attentive, and committed to making the experience a good one. Then around December of '06 the high-quality, personable service staff began to disappear... then a month or two later they were gone entirely. Their replacements? No wine knowledge, no food knowledge. Come to think of it, the last three times I was there, there was really no service to speak of. It was pretty much just order & delivery (and even that part was mediocre to the point of being bothersome), with a miserable look on their faces to boot. Whether the cause or the effect, I can't say - but nonetheless the sexy after-work bar crowd seems to have disappeared, the happy buzz of a restaurant in a confident groove is gone, and it's a damn shame. I'd like to know what happened to precipitate this. I was extremely excited about the opening of the Columbus Circle Landmarc, but because of my last few experiences at the original Tribeca Location, I don't really want to risk a trip to the new one.

    Neighborhood Fav

I've eaten everywhere in my neighborhood over the last 9 years and Landmarc has become my favorite. Of course, you will have a few reviews that will be bad and every now and then you may have a new waiter or hit it at an off time but 90% of the time (I eat here at least 2x month) it is right on. I defy anyone to tell me the mozarella fritters aren't amazing. The steaks are wonderful, the pastas are terrific (why can't every day be cacio e pepe Sunday?) and the wines and their price cannot be beat. Service is usually very good and they are always very friendly. Plus, it's open very late and delivers. AWESOME!

    Fantastic wine list, good food

I went to Landmarc last night at around 11pm. It's great that the kitchen is open so late! I also went about a year ago. My server was very cheerful, despite it being so late in the night. She was present but not intrusive. The wine is uniformly excellent, and I like that there's an option to order half-bottles. The food is quite good, but I wouldn't bother to come here if I wasn't planning on ordering wine. My quail was delicious, and my date said his steak was good. The sauces it came with were great. The desserts are very small, but the prices reflect this; a medley of sweet things (preferably accompanied by a dessert wine) is a perfect end to the meal.

    Wonderful place - with reservations

There is no doubt that the food at this pricey eatery is truly fine. We love it. "Atmosphere" is ALWAYS a misleading term. It's well-decorated, but very noisy, oddly lit, and it's too loud, from both "music" and people. Great wine list, and truly variable service. Take your chances, because the food is great, but remember that at these prices, you have to be willing to put up with noise, and be willing to send up a flare for your server.
