Land Thai Kitchen

Tiny "hole" in the wall with great food. I felt a bit rushed, but considering it was peek weekend-brunch/lunch time I won't hold it against it. Note to spicy lovers out there--if it says hot it means HOT (I had the spicy flat noodles), not the american version of fusion hot which is mild.

My husband and I stumbled on this gem after perusing a few blocks of various overpriced lunch options.... For an $8 appetizer and entree option, one really cannot go wrong here. My husbands shrimp pad Thai was so good he had to surrender half to my plate. I had the basil beef, also good, however the server brought out a medium spicy version instead of the mild. They do like to clear the tables quickly, so do not eat here if you like unobtrusive subtle service.... The plates are gone seconds after you put you chopsticks down.

I really love this place. I recently moved to UWS, and erroneously thought I would have tons of Asian options for delivery. I actually don't. Well, Land Thai is the de facto option for my family. It is a little pricey, probably because the portions are a bit small so we order more. It is really great quality. Love the papaya salad and the vegetable dumplings are AMAZING. They have chopped peanuts in them, I believe. I called once and they were out of them, and I nearly cried. Try them, you won't be sorry. Pad thai great too.

My fiance and I have lived in the East 80's for the last 4 years and have come to love Thai food. We try different Thai restaurants everywhere we go and have found nothing that compares to Land. Though the restaurant does get tight from time to time the food, drinks, and service make it all worth it! We often order in and have found no lack in quality. With the meals coming in at $9-$12 you cant go wrong!

In my frequent trips to Bangkok, I have come to love Thai food, and often wonder why Manhattan's Thai restaurants fall so short of the mark. Land is not a bad bet. It is small and cramped, has a limited menu that never changes much, giving it something of a "packaged quality." But I also don't mind the decor and found the food to be quite good -- there is a pure, clean quality to the dishes -- nicely presented and generally spicy enough. Until my last visit, I found service to be sweet and the staff congenial. Our waitress, on this visit, was not so sweet. We went early, and only a few tables were occupied. She dashed up, asked us for our cocktail order and abruptly asked if we wanted to order dinner. (This irritates me at any restaurant.) Good thing we said we weren't ready -- drinks took a full 15 minutes, even though the bar was staffed. When we finally asked the waitress if there was a problem, she grinned broadly, and aggressively chirped "There is no problem"! (Oh, could Larry David have launched a retort to that one.) Cocktails are an important prelude to a meal, and this episode negatively colored my impression of a good local restaurant. I just have no tolerance for service that irritates, even if the prices are reasonable and the location close.
