speedy delivery, but NOT thai food!

I just ordered the drunken noodles (one of my favorite Thai dishes) and was so disappointed I needed to write this review. The noodles were NOT at all quality Thai noodles that you would expect. Overall, it looked and tasted like overpriced lo mein. Although delivery was fast, taste was severly lacking. Could have gotten mediocre Chinese take-out if this is what I wanted...

    Decent neighborhood Thai

Like some other reviews said, its not what it used to be. Similar to a lot of other asian restaurants, it opened well, food was great, long waits. But over time, they seem to lose interest and just bang out the food without care. The food's not bad, but not great. fine for a decent weekday meal - nothing better.

probably the best you'll get in the neighborhood

The UES is generally not the place to go for top notch ethnic cuisine, but this place is damned good for where and what it is. As far as appetizers go, the chicken curry puffs are hot, flaky, and almost reminiscent of delicious Indian pastries. The sa tay sampler is good for a carnivore like me, and although the peanut sauce is a little oily, the meat itself is surprisingly tender. I've had most of the "from the wok" entrees, but my favorite is the green curry by far. When they say spicy, they mean it -- even their definition of "medium" is enough to warrant a tall beverage. The Thai eggplant and bamboo soak up all the wonderful flavor of the curry, the string beans are crisp, and the meat is (90% of the time) succulent. The peppercorn sauce is good if not a little heavy on the sodium, and the massaman curry is very yummy. The fact that you can pick whatever meat you want in the dish is a huge plus, since I am a lamb fiend. Very reasonable prices, speedy delivery, and good portion sizes (I don't understand the complaints; I usually have left overs). The lady who takes my order on the phone is both friendly and efficient, and always remembers to ask if I want chopsticks. That's a good thing, since I usually forget. All in all, great bang for your buck, and my go-to Thai delivery joint. Forget Spice. Land is where it's at.

    down hill

Well the first couple year was great and food is delicious but we went there to eat last week and it was a disaster! watery pad thai chicken way to dry broken dumplings, hope they can bring back the good old days.

    Delicious food, very unique Thai

We love Land. They are not really traditional Thai though they do have some traditional dishes. We've had the Satay sampler, curry puffs, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, and various Wok-Charred items (very spicy!). They are a little more expensive than many Asian places given the portion sizes, but I believe they are a cut above and worth it. The place is pretty but can definitely be cramped. Go a little early and you won't have to wait.

    flavorful food, small portions

Just ordered take out from the lunch prix fixed $8 2 root vegetable spring rolls -- tasty, but tiny order. Pad Thai with Shrimp -- very flavorful and a great portion if you don't eat a lot. Also ordered the Wok Basil with Beef, extra spicy -- much smaller portion then the pad thai, had to fill up on rice but it was definitely worth ordering at least to try. Next time we'll just order from the regular menu, only $3 more.

    poor service

so so food. Nice space. Comically poor service. We waited forever for the main courses. They apologized for the long wait and gave us complimentary drinks which made us smile. Except the guy who we were celebrating a birthday with decided to order dessert. we had to wait forever to get the Chocolate Cake, the staff seems to be in a coma...
