very good
Very delicious sushi! I highly recommend the Spicy Shrimp Tempura rolls! I will definitely be going back to Lan sometime soon!

Nyc top 5
after trying all the fancy and "supposingly" best places ... personally i think LAN is one of the best japanese places in the city ,..period ( with Aburiya) - The food tastes always the same way .. (perfect)... , never had complains about service, ..and you actually see there all the time a lot of japanese people, - what is a sign, that the food is actually good..

the only disappointing thing...
...is that i've lived 4 blocks from this place for 6 years and never knew about this spot!! i always took pride in knowing all the fantastic neighborhood spots and i was shocked last night to find out this one flew under my radar for 6 years! the food was delicious (we had 5 courses and everything was delightful) and the service was impeccable. atmosphere is very rustic and nice and i love that the tables are not stuck to one another so you can actually enjoy your space and not be bothered listening to the guy sitting next to you. ill be going back very soon!

An Absolute Best
I've gone so many times and it never falters! It's always fresh with a great assortment. Rareities are full of taste and superb. Everything is a really a treasure on the menu. Plus it is one of the last places in New York that let you order straight from the sushi maker behind the bar without problem! Great, great, great! If only it were a little cheaper!

WOW
I am a sushi brat, and this place simply blew me away! also a fun little game i like to play: move your water glass( or salt, pepper, soy sauce, anything) a cm to your right, the server will come by and move it back to where it was within seconds.

A must try
This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite restaurants. Have been too many times to count and Lan never disappoints. They have great sushi, but the real surprise is how excellent their other offerings are. The tasting menu is fabulous and a great way to get a feel for what the kitchen can produce. Sake choices are also wonderful and the managers knowledge about them is impressive. Service is always great, but not a good place to go if your in a rush, so sit down, relax and enjoy!

A true value in New York dining. Creative and delicious. Come ready to push your standard comfort zone if you really want to experience what Lan is truly about. I look forward to my next trip to NCY…you’ll find me there!
