Slow Service, Unclean Feel
There is absolutely no atmosphere in here. The food is mediocre, and it takes forever. It also doesn't feel very clean in the restaurant. I won't be returning.

good food
Spare and unadorned but good vegetarian cuisine served by a cheerful staff eager to please. The food was good and came with helpful verbal instruction as to proper eating technique. I've received the same in other Vietnamese restaurants so table technique diverges from the norm, it seems. I liked it.

Slow Service
The place is small but cozy. I had the Rice Crepe and Stewed Eggplant and Tofu. The Rice Crepe was pretty good. The Eggplant and Tofu was alright. Overall, nothing Amazing from what i ordered. There was just a small group of people already eating there, so it was surprising we had to wait a while to get our order down. But, there was only one waiter, so it is understandable. Service was not friendly but not rude at all. Also my drink was forgotten so I had to order it again.

Yummy when you can find it open
I've managed to eat at Lan two times and it was great both times.... however that was out of *trying* to eat there four times. Ok.. once was our fault - we didn't realize the restaurant was closed on Tuesdays(?!?!) but the other time was for lunch on a Friday when they're supposed to be open. But, as I said - the food is terrific and the service was nice, if a little pokey. We've ordered different things both times and nothing disappointed. But the random closings are a little frustrating, especially since I don't live in the nabe and I'm making a trip to specifically eat there.

I love meat, but I love Lan Cafe more
Phenomenal food -- hard to believe it is vegan. I agree that the delivery is kind of slow, and I think the food tastes a lot better in the restaurant. Try the tofu meatball sandwich.

Hidden Vegan gem in NY City
Bumped into this by accident. Excellent food. Spicy and tasty if you have an indian palate or even otherwise. Awesome flavors with great spicy food-Not very Hot but very flavorful. Only a single person handling the whole show -.seats about 20 ppl in all, so service might be a lil slow if its full ..but surely worth the wait...not kiddin ..really its worth the wait. Was waiting to review the place after coming out yesterday. Owner is short sweet asian lady. Pricing very affordable about $5- $8 entrees. Bunch of Indian places on the same street, but am so glad we picked lan cafe.
