Great food but..
How can a restaurant in New York City be closed Saturdays and Sundays? Not to mention they close at 10pm during the week. I love their food but give me a break..

Fresh and Delicious
I've lived down the street for four years and have eaten here/from here at least once a month since I've been in the neighborhood. The pasta is so deliciously fresh and the polpette is so tender that it's the kind of dish that becomes your go-to comfort food. The marinara can be a little on the sweet side but if you ask for it to be made a little spicier the sweetness balances out. I wouldn't recommend going to Lamarca on a date - it's no frills atmosphere and shocking lighting will not exactly set the mood.....but if you're looking for reliably good pasta, you'll find it there.

delicious
This is my boyfriend's favorite pasta restaurant in New York, and he's tried a lot of places. I'm not even a big pasta fan but I have to say, this place is good. I love their spinach and cheese ravioli!

we eat here all the time
i felt compelled to write this review because there were so many undeserved bad reviews posted. my bf and i eat here all the time. the entrees are very reasonably priced and very yummy, we've had almost everything on the menu. the portion sizes are great, i usually take half of mine home and have it for lunch the next day. also the wine is incredibly cheap. every bottle is under $20. we haven't been to any other place in the city where we can both get an entree (bread and salad included) and a bottle of wine for under $60. also the staff, which pretty much consists of 2 waitresses, are awesome and always very helpful. all that being said don't expect to take someone here on a first date or have the best italian food you've ever tasted. but if you are in the neighborhood with some friends or a significant other that you no longer have to impress lamarca is a great place to have some food, wine and a good time.

mediocre
i went here with a friend who loves it and i can only say that it was mediocre. granted i only tried the one dish, but i have no intention of going back to test others. the tomato sauce was much too sweet and the pasta was slightly overcooked (and as a result of both, made me think of spaghetti-Os). it wasn't much of a deal, although salad and a giant warm roll were included. note: it has ZERO ambience. on par with your school cafeteria.

Best lunch place in the neighborhood
I am a little surprised by the negative reviews of Lamarca (both sides). I go there about twice a week because I work in the area. I started out getting soup on the counter side and loved it. Then I decided I wanted to have a waitress one day and ate pasta in the restaurant. I could not stop myself from eating it! It was a warm bowl of goodness. The garden salad is also a staple in my diet now. I love it so much that I usually scrape the bottom bowl with the soft bread. Obviously, this place is close to my heart and stomach, and my waistline might prove it! I go to both places and love it each time. I rated food and service 4.5 because I was not as impressed with the Pumpkin Soup that my coworker raved about. Could be my taste buds. The people behind the counter have always been friendly, but it can feel a little rushed.

Good place
Hi. There are two parts to Lamarca. There is a restaurant and then there is a mini shop with some seating, this is the one I go to once a week. I always heard amount Lamarca from classmates so one day I went not knowing there are 2 sides to the Lamarca. I go in and I say take out, the lady gives me a menu. I order, she hands it to me and I said, I thought it was supposed to $5, so looked at me like I had to heads, I ended up paying $11 for really poor manicotti, So I learned there is a take out. I gave the food portion a rate of 4 because I only get Aurora, I have never tried anything else, it's delicious. I don't know how the other sauces are. But for a pint it's only 5 bucks, you are not wasting a whole lot if you don't like, so give it a try.
