Good food, but the customer service ruins the experience

I live in the area and I prefer the food at Lamarca to any other neighborhood Italian restaurants. The food is the only thing that is attractive about this place. I've been a customer for years and I've been embarrassed on more than one occasion when I've taken a guest to dine at the restaurant and the staff has been horribly obnoxious. I'm not one to complain easily, but this has gotten to me so much that now I only order over the phone for either delivery or take-out. This place has so much potential -- the owners need to replace the entire staff (except the chefs) and add some nice lighting and art to improve the ambience.

    Poor customer service

The customer service was poor. They charged $5 to deliver, the food was wrong, there was no place to leave the delivery man a tip and no one mentioned that ahead of time. Not only was the entire order wrong but the pasta came half empty in the container. When I called to complain and ask for a refund they were going to have the delivery man come back in the pouring freezing rain to pick it up in order to refund me. I did not want the delivery man to have to do that and said no and the manager still refused to refund me. He was rude, mean and mocked me the entire conversation. There is much better pasta elsewhere in the city and for MUCH less money.

    Spoiled by my Italian nanny

As a child, I had a nanny named Stella, a native Sicilian who "multitasked" as a cook, and she cooked like an angel. Few restaurants could compete with her, and Lamarca just isn't in the running. Ravioli with Alfredo sauce was in the "O.K." category. (I ate it.) But an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms was absolutely tasteless. No spices! I guess they are trying not to turn anyone off, but they certainly failed to turn me on. On the other hand, delivery was quick & prices about average for a restaurant in this neighborhood.

    Awesome!

An Italian MUST! The food here is just great! I went with a few girlfriends and we all ordered a ton of different items on the menu and all of them were fabulous! the atmosphere isn't the greatest but the food is WORTH IT!

    awesome

i live in the area and had always heard great things about lamarca. the pasta is so so so delicious, i always get their gnocchi and highly recommend it. i've never been to the restaurant..i always go to the cafe in the back mainly because it's cheaper and has exactly what i'm looking for. the guy (who seems to be getting some undeserved bad reviews) is always super helpful and nice to me and my friends. they have a variety of sauce choices and always offer to combine 2 of them in your pasta i could go on and on about how much i love this place, but i'll stop. it's excellent... go see for yourself

The Best Pasta In New York City

I live down the block and I go there every single week for pasta. I have never been displeased. The marinara and Alfredo sauces are the best I have ever tasted. I would recommend it to anyone.
