    Spoiled by my Italian nanny

As a child, I had a nanny named Stella, a native Sicilian who "multitasked" as a cook, and she cooked like an angel. Few restaurants could compete with her, and Lamarca just isn't in the running. Ravioli with Alfredo sauce was in the "O.K." category. (I ate it.) But an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms was absolutely tasteless. No spices! I guess they are trying not to turn anyone off, but they certainly failed to turn me on. On the other hand, delivery was quick & prices about average for a restaurant in this neighborhood.

    Awesome!

An Italian MUST! The food here is just great! I went with a few girlfriends and we all ordered a ton of different items on the menu and all of them were fabulous! the atmosphere isn't the greatest but the food is WORTH IT!

    awesome

i live in the area and had always heard great things about lamarca. the pasta is so so so delicious, i always get their gnocchi and highly recommend it. i've never been to the restaurant..i always go to the cafe in the back mainly because it's cheaper and has exactly what i'm looking for. the guy (who seems to be getting some undeserved bad reviews) is always super helpful and nice to me and my friends. they have a variety of sauce choices and always offer to combine 2 of them in your pasta i could go on and on about how much i love this place, but i'll stop. it's excellent... go see for yourself

The Best Pasta In New York City

I live down the block and I go there every single week for pasta. I have never been displeased. The marinara and Alfredo sauces are the best I have ever tasted. I would recommend it to anyone.

    Good food but....

Lamarca has some delicious dishes however the staff is seriously rude. The Cheese Shop has the most horrible service with one guy that is borderline crazy (yelled at me when I tried to order something that I have been buying there for months saying that they didn't sell it 'that way'). Overall, for the $$ , which is not cheap, I expect some level of service without the major attitude.

    Gyp Joint

We live two blocks from this place, and ordered takeout after a long day. It took forever for the food to arrive, cost over $40 (for two entrees and an appetizer) and they got my order wrong. I am a lifetime vegetarian, and I asked for a dish "hold the pancetta"...Well it had tons of pancetta in it, and when I called and asked that they replace it, the guy said no, it was too much trouble. Mind you, we live literally two blocks from the place, and my dish was $15.50. He said he would just credit my card for the dish (which sucks when you are hungry) and of course NEVER issued the credit. So I feel that the (mediocre, overpriced) food doesn't compensate for the arrogant, blasé attitude of the staff. Will take my business elsewhere.
