My husband and I had dinner at L'Alllegra last night prior to the theatre. The restaurant was empty. To get right to the point after sitting for a while "bread was brought" Pizza dough lightly baked..no bread.... When ordering I asked if there was anything else besides potato and string beans I could have with my entree...I was thinking Chicken Marsala or Saltimboca I was told I could double the potatoes. Pasta was not an option. I decided to order Penne a la Vodka with Grilled Chicken off the Prix Fix Menu. My husband ordered Chicken Francese from the ala Carte menu. Our Cesear Salad tasted contained no cheese that we could taste and we were not offered any nor ground pepper. My husband 's Chicken Francese was passable. My Penne was edible though overcooked. But the chicken was horrible, not cooked through..Not once did any wait staff come to our table to see how our meal was. The final straw was when my husband had to call over a waiter to refill his coffee. After the request the waiter stood a few feet away having a private conversation with another employee for a few minutes before going to get the pot of coffee. The entire time we were there only 5 tables were filled including ours. As we left my husband commented "I guess they don't get any return Business"

My last visit to New York City

L' Allegria is great restaurant. The food is tasty with big portions. The pork osso boco is one of a kind you don't need a knife to cut it. The staff is very helpul and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    Highly Recommend

L'Allegria is a nice Italian restaurant; the food is always good. The Margarita pizza is superb. Also, when using my living social coupon, I never had an issue and as common sense and respect, one needs to tip on the used $ portion and not on the difference owed to the restaurant. So you eat for $50 worth of food and you present a $40 voucher, Don't tip $3 on the $10 you owe then write bad reviews ??? Next time you go try the brick oven pizza or the Ossobucco you'll become a regular. The staff is always neat & friendly.

As a local in Hells Kitchen i cam assure you this is the only restaurant here i will never go back to. Food was okay. The owner was the most unprofessional man I've ever met in the restaurant industry. They would not honor our living social deal because the certificate was on my phone, not printed out (which living social clearly states you can do). The owner almost got in a fist fight with my boyfriend. It was only after I threatened to call the police that he honored the deal. We were also overcharged $17.00. I strongly do not recommend

    Not worth the hassle

The hostess was quite rude and unwilling to be helpful - I placed a pickup order with her and had to go to the restaurant three times before it was even put into the system. Each time I spoke with her directly, and she was unhelpful and unapologetic. Finally when I got my pizza, it wasn't even that great. There are several other good/better places in the area that you shouldn't be subject to such hassle.

I have never walked out of a restaurant for bad service until I went here. After waiting 45 minutes for our food, my friend and I asked the waiter about it and he said a few more minutes. 5 minutes went by and we asked again. He then came over and said something had happened with the order and asked for our order again. Let me point out, the restaurant was not busy, and a another group arrived after us and was served a good 30 minutes before we got our food. The waiter also never came over to even offer us water. Then another 15 minutes go by and the waiter comes over with our main dish. And we say where's the salad? His response, "do you not want this." At that point, I got up and said, "No." We put on our jackets to leave and he said "you have to pay for the wine." We said we weren't paying for it because of the poor service. Then he said "but you drank it" and he threatened to call the cops. At that point the host comes over and we tell him what happened. He let us go but there was no apology.

a no go with one exception

Service was extremely poor and failed to inform my party of 2 that we were being charged an 18% gratuity due to a large group of French tourists who arrived after we began our meal. I fail to see what this had to do with our check. The food is mediocre and the pizza -perhaps the only thing going for them- is often too crispy.
