Obviously we love La Vela!
My wife and I have been returning to La Vela for over three years. We love the food, the ambiance and we absolutely love the staff. The friendly service and the excellent specials will continue bringing us back.

Worth the walk
Had dinner prior to a show on 1/28/06. Food was delicious, wait staff very nice, Homemade pasta was great. Tried the gnocchi on a recommendation from a previous review and wasn't dissappointed. Prices are fair and portions good.

Great Neighborhood Spot
This is a great anytime place. If you're craving italian and want a casual, comfortable place this is the place to go. Nice menu, and the staff will alter anything to your liking i.e., chicken instead of veal.

Come hungry
I am always pleased with this place, every dish I've ever tried has been delicious. The menu has much to pick from. The portions are extremely large and the dinner entrees are all very well priced (about 15$) the restaurant itself is very cute, the decor is perfect, it is both romantic and causual/relaxed. The service is poor, the servers can be rude and unhelpful....but the food comes perfectly timed (not too fast, not too slow.) This place is also low-carb friendly, (with each entree you have a choice of pasta, potato or veggies).

A Neighborhood Great - Not worth a trip
This is the quintessential neighborhood restaurant. Nothing spectacular but dependable, inexpensive (for the area) and good. We mostly order in. It's a terrific place to have on hand, but not one I'd ever travel to. So the service is a little less than professional -- it's a place to eat -- not a dining experience. Unpretentious. Unhurried. Uninspired, too, but that's OK.

Love it
We have been to this cute little spot a few times, but we order in even more! We really love the food and they are so accomodating with additions to pasta, I add mushrooms and goat cheese to everything! I have sent numerous friends here as well and they loved it too! Penne a la Vodka.... anyone who has not enjoyed there meal here has not ordered this. yummmm....

Great Local Place on West Side
We have been coming here for two years (from NJ). Warm gracious service; food quality and quantity excellent the price is right; on site owner continually monitors his staff. We will definitely continue patronizing this very comfortable neighborhood restaurant.
