    La Vela...the best!!

You must try La Vela! Living in Dutchess County, we always look forward to a trip into the city and dinner at La Vela. We enjoy everything from their regular menu and nightly specials. A warm, neighborbood atmosphere combined with great authentic Italian dishes makes for a wonderful dining experience. You must have the gnocchi quatro formaggio or any of their fresh pasta dishes. The gnocchi is the most delicious pasta dish anywhere! The meat and seafood entrees are always perfectly prepared. La Vela is a NYC restaurant you must put on your list. Guaranteed you will go out of your way to go there again and again.

    Overall an excellent place

My partner and I go often as it is right at the end of our block, although I usually always get the quattro formaggi gnocci as it is the most delicious pasta dish I have ever had as I can get it with chicken or shrimp, for a little extra, the entrees are usually out of this world, I highly recommmend, the shirmp and white beans, the Lamb shank when they have it also,. Keep up the good work Sami and Francesca! And for the person who left the bad review for poor delivery, go sit there and eat and get a sense of how good this place TRULY is!

    The best neighborhood Italian villa

Even before I moved to the neighborhood, La Vela has been one of my favorite restaurants on the UWS. It's not one of those shi-shi flatiron restaurants but It is the kind of place you will want to come back to over and over because it makes you feel so comfortably in many different ways. I like meeting friends here because of its location, prices, and reliably good food. La Vela is one reason I like calling the UWS "my neighborhood."

    REAL Italian on the UWS

My family and I have been going to La Vela for years. We order out from them about 2 times a week. The food is always great, well priced and the owners and staff that work there are wonderful and friendly. A great neighborhood italian, always consistent.

    Try La Vela

La Vela was an excellent dining experience. The fresh pastas are wonderful, and the entrees we had were really well-prepared. The service was also terrific. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and what a pleasure to have somewhere worthwhile to dine on the upper westside.

    Wonderful dining experience

We eat at La Vela multiple times a month and always have a great experience. The delicious food (highly recommend the fettucine bolognese, or any of the outstanding specials, always a treat) is enhanced by the warm inviting atmosphere. Having eaten at all of the Italian restaurants in the neighborhood we can honestly say that La Vela is a must try.

    Not recommended

I ordered food to be delivered to my apartment after hearing about this place and reading the menu off this website. The food got here in time, but when we all ate one of our baked clams, we heard big crunches around the table. Every clam had salt in it. When I took a bite of my linguine in white clam sauce dish, there was the salt again. Also, they forgot the linguine we ordered and had to call again to get what we had paid for and hadn't received. So go on ahead to La Vela if you enjoy a sand-filled meal! P.S. the 5.0 service marking is only due to the poor delivery man who had to run back and forth 6 blocks three times in the freezing cold to rectify the kitchen's mistakes! (Thank you)
