After moving back to Brooklyn, I returned to La Sorrentina for the first tme in three years. What a pleasure, was not disappointed. Food was excellent, A bit pricey, atmosphere unchanged, wait staff left some room for improvement. Other then that, I still highly reccomend it for excellent Italian food.

Where to begin? The same establishment seems to entail both a pizza store and restaurant a few doors down from each other, and the prices reflect a disparity. Very confusing. We ordered veal parmigiana, and the veal was chewy. The waiter's English was poor, and he didn't know what he was doing. I told him we wanted the veal crispy, with not too much sauce. It came back swimming in an acidic, bitter tomato "sauce" that tasted like puree right out of the can. In addition, he asked if we wanted bread, which in an Italian restaurant, ought to be brought immediately. The loaf came back with only 3 pats of butter, an insufficient amount. He also made a snide remark when I asked for a cup of tap water. He also didn't know what Italian cheese was, asking "which one is that?" A waiter not knowing that in a pizza store/restaurant is shameful. I will never return to this place ever.

This is the favorite place to eat for the whole family both young and old. Over the years we have tried just about everything on their extensive menu and it is all delicious!!! Bay Ridge has some of the city's best restaurants but this is by far the best for authentic Italian food. Highest quality, freshest ingredients with the most reasonable prices and courteous attentive wait staff. Try it once and I promise you'll be a customer for life. Plenty of parking available.

I eat here with my family on special occasions...standard good Italian very fairly priced. Eating in is great - old school Italian waiters & good service, everything tastes authentic. A good choice for solid takeout or a 'hood date.
