absolutely perfect
knew we were goin to eat somewhere on restaurant row, and read great reviews about this place.. well thank you everyone before me, because you were right.. the food was absolutely amazing (i had tortellini in butter to start, and pollo bolognese -- and let me tell you it was soo delicious).. wasnt crowded at all, especially on a friday night.. the timing of each course was superb.. the atmosphere just so romantic with the piano player -- he played the most beautiful pieces with a couple holiday tunes thrown in.. cannot wait to go back there!!

Must Try
The interior is small so you will be well aware of the loud talking from the patrons. Aside from this, make an effort to go there. The food is great. I had the monkfish, clams and mussel special in a spicy tomato sauce. My wife had the veal and asparagus dish. The portions were generous. The service was excellent.

Great Food !
We found this restaurant by default, as another restaurant we were heading to on 46 Th Street was closed. The food was fantastic, maybe best we have ever had. We ate outside and did not have the issues another person mentioned about the tables being crowded together. The fantastic food would have made up for that either way.

Best Veal Marsala I have ever had
I have eaten her a few times and the Veal Marsala is THE Best I have ever had. Good food and service. Try it for an old world and old time exeprience.

Not to be re-visita
La Rivista is not a place to which we will return. Despite the fact that we arrived promptly for our reservation, we were given the worst table in the room. It was nearly inside the kitchen, and so close to another table that each time a waiter or a busboy passed us, our breadbasket toppled on the floor. The bread was stale, in any case. My companion's pasta bolognaise was mediocre. My penne was short on broccoli, contained what seemed to be canned mushrooms, and a greasy mass of slivered garlic, cheese.

One of my absolute favorites
LOVE this resturant, great for pre or post theatre dining but I find myself trying to find other excuses to eat here because everything about it is so wonderful. Great wine list and the tortelloni with spinach and cheese is my favorite. Have been going here for years and will continue to do so.
